Those are from Team Fortress 2, a multiplayer game by Valve, the company that made Half Life 2. It was released back in November. It's loads of fun.

There's nine different player classes, each one with different strengths and weaknesses, and the gameplay involves capturing all of a map's capture points, or capturing the enemy flag, or in this case, briefcase.

I ask what planet you're from, because this game is almost as well known as the Mario games. :-) It's pretty amazing you've managed to go this long on these forums and haven't heard of it.

ive got 2 foam rounders bats (similar to baseball but a tad smaller and foam ;) ) i found myself percussioning with them a few times

they all seem to have gormless looks on them

I love TF2 too, I play 2Fort map a lot on those 24hr 2Fort only servers. I excel as medic and engineer (my record is 28 kills witn one sentry) ... I am useless at sniper.
