I was reading a letter I got in the post today. While reading it I came upon some wording I wanted to save so I thought I'd grab the mouse and Copy & Paste it in to notepad.

Yep! As retarded as it sounds I actually thought I could Copy & Paste the printed text on the letter in to notepad with the mouse.

I've had the same thought before like because I want to email it to someone or something (guess it's possible to OCR it). Another similar thing is I've tried to hit Ctrl+F when reading something in order to perform a word search!

Here's the really clever bit about that. In the Danish version of Microsoft Office, the shortcuts for Find (CTRL + F) and Bold Text (CTRL + B) is reversed. Well done Microsoft, you useless cretinous morons. So in every other program, including English versions of Word, CTRL + F does what you expect it to. In the Danish version, no matter how many times you've tried it, you will always hit the wrong key combination the first time.

not only in the danish ... in german, bold is "fett" so guess where to find it ^^

would be better if MS adopted some OSX logic and would use a global search "relink" pattern -> win - F for any search that is then redirected to the current contexts search capability.

But win-F is *already?* assigned to another unique task: it's the shortcut for the windows file finder. Hijacking that for application-level searches would break their existing universal search.

Backwards compatibility is both a blessing and a curse sometimes...

I was watching an episode of the Colbert Report on TV yesterday, and they made a joke about "The redacted version of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". But after the books title displayed with black censorship bars, I realised the censored first few letters had spelled "head". Surmising that the rest of it was something amusing I'd missed, so I thought I'd just rewind it to see what it said, and went to reach for the mouse...

...and then I realised I wasn't watching it on my PC on Youtube which is where I usually see clips from his show... since I don't really watch it much.

Ah yes I have wished for Ctrl+Z after making a boob sometimes.

Never done that before but I constantly look for the remote control to fast forward shows when I'm watching live TV instead of my DVR. And to top it off I've even done it while in a theatre watching a bad movie. :)

You folks who've done this stuff have severe mental issues and should seek counseling immediately. I have been doing this stuff since I was 6 or so and I have never tried to 'undo' while sketching or copy and paste text when reading print. The only oddity I have is I would like to mute or turn off the people around me, because most of them tend to be incredibly dumb sounding (read: sounding, does not mean they are, but rather that I think they sound dumb enough that I'd just rather not find out at all and instead would like to remove their noise).

i always played startopia with a top down view not the free form camera type (i think it was better to work with things that way but a fps type thing would have been nice if it stayed on the floor not up in space)

so each time i was on the bio deck all the trees would just be the tops of so id not know how tall or what its true shape was

so a few times when taking my mums dog out for a walk id look at a flower or weed that reminded me of a tree and think
"I wonder what goods that would make if i right clicked it"
