RetroTank3D - New Playable Demo

Still has a long ways to go but I've made a lot of progress lately on this project so there is a new playable demo available. 2 players at the same PC should be able to have a pretty good go :)

RetroTank3D is a retro 3D remake of the tank portion of Atari "Combat!". It is meant to look and act nearly like the original only in 3D.

here are some updated screenshots. Be sure to do a hard browser refresh to get the newest photos in case the old are cached.

The 3D part is good. I remember playing this on the Atari 2600. Yes it was only 2d on the Atari but your version still has the look and feel of it.

I liked the different camera setups also.

updated release. several bug fixes but the cream of ths one is the invisible tank and guided shell modes :)

Some suggestion.
1. Optimise your png fonts:
a) they eat up too much hdd ~20 kb instead of ~160 kb for all fonts should be more than enough.
b) in some cases the fonts look ugly on the credits screen (names).

2. When you exit a game and go back to the main menu, the mouse disappears. This is a bit confusing as your menu has no keyboard support.

3. Can you make a single exe for the whole game and bring it under 1,4 MB? - Even more retroish... ;)

i had been holding off on updating the Irrlicht font tool but after doing so the new fonts look much better. the image files it uses are much smaller but unfortunately they now require XML files which are big :| they should compress down pretty good though once i get the resources packed up.

i updated the code so the mouse is recentered after going back to the main screen. this caused it to reshow before moving your mouse.

:) not sure if i can get it all under 1.4MB with Irrlicht DLL included. i plan on packing up the resources before final release and for windows i usually molebox up the final EXE.

I've sent you the cut down version of your font images. 15 kb in total. Tested with the newest release and working fine.

updated. new menu sounds and Linux build. probably be my last update for a while since im getting into the next phase of dev (multiplayer).

I'd be happy to try the linux build for you..... Are you tcp ing your multiplayer....?
