Game is done - now what?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Game is done - now what?

So, my latest game is done and it's been available for download for a week now. AtomHex

The eager ones have seen it and liked it.
What do I do to get it known to everyone else?

Most things I've made have been a slow-grow word of mouth spread (except for Grid Wars - that was an explosion)

Where do we advertize? How?
Any advice welcome.

What happened to the marble madness game?

(or was that somebody else?)

are you giving it away free or want to make money from it?

One way is to make a beta which is extremely poor in gameplay and graphics and then post lots of screenshots and say you're still not finished and that it's going to be much better tomorrow.

Then ignore everyone's comments and say laughable things like you're going to get EA to publish it. Keep this up for about a month or two.

After that release another thread with a link to the real game. Almost everyone who posted in the previous threads will now download it.

This is a low-budget method of advertising but seems to work quite well.

Yes, I'm the marble guy. Game on hold - long story.

Game is a pay what you can 20,15,10,5 or 0(with a note from your mother)

I was going to get EA to publish it - but they wouldn't give me the $$ I deserve :)

Thanks for the links Grey - will investigate.
