After since Sony came out with the first OLED 11" display, I'm wondering how well the technology's eventually gonna take off? I mean, it seems to be a capable technology, but not too sure how well it will do for PC gaming monitors at all, let alone digital televisions. It seems as tho $2,500 for a display that's not even a foot in screen size, and not even full 1080p HDTV (it's even lucky to be EDTV), just doesn't seem to fly with the mass market. Seems like we're gonna be sticking with LCD and plasma for a little while longer. What are your thoughts on this new technology?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/OLED display technology...thoughts so far? It's longevity is pretty short compared to other display types according to the wiki, and that's just enough for me to pass on the technology until they find a way around that issue.
(ignoring the fact I couldn't afford them as-is to begin with, let alone justifying a 11" OLED model over a full-fledged 40"+ 1080p HDTV)
Regardless, I need to see one of them in person. Just to see how vibrant they really are.....and if the flat-flat-panel thing holds up.

OLED is certainly a promising technology, it's just going to take awhile for it to be practically usable everyday.
Yeah, it's a shame about SED, I was hoping THAT would've been the technology to look up to, since Toshiba had theirs at a reasonable size and price. Wasn't it, like, a big 55" SED they were displaying in Japan? Now THAT would've been worth something, imho.
