Application crash - Amapi 3D 6.0

This is rather odd. I have had this application installed for a good while now. You may have guessed from the name, it's a 3d modeller, pretty good one at that :D

Only problem is, now, it won't load up. The loading screen pops up, and just as it's about to initiate, i get the dialog windows sound, and it closes. I've checked the application and system log files, but no errors seemed to have been produced.

I have made no changes to the system. I had backdoor virus "Crypt" something or other. That's the only thing that's changed. Hard to say when i got the virus, but what kind of things could cause this to happen?

I have reinstalled the application and i've check all other 3d apps, open GL and DX. All seems to work fine.

Anyone ANY ideas please?

Uninstall, manually delete app folder/settings, reinstall?

I have done so. Even reinstalled my graphic card drivers...

It gives me this message:

"No more memory or internal error"

No other apps are complaining about memory. I have 1 GB on this machine. And i've reinstalled the app from the setup file...

I had a problem with PerfectDisk recently.

Turned out to be ZoneAlam. The weird thing is the problem can manifest out of thin air. People have had problems with the two apps going back several years. I had it suddenly appear when neither PerfectDisk or ZA had updated themselves for many months.

I couldn't belive PD's tech support when they told me to uninstall ZA - I cannot explain or imagine how this problem can simply appear out of thin air. However, PD were right and they have been plagued with this problem for years.

May as well have a look and see what apps are most recent... thanks.

Well puki, as much i shook my head and though "How the hell can these apps stop it from running" i installed some stuff, one of them being futuremarks graphics card tester thing, and it bloody works... unbelievable...

I had had both PerfectDisk and ZA installed for years - never had a problem at all. Then it just appeared - I'm seeing reports on the internet going back years for people being suddenly struck down by this clash of two apps. All very odd.

Ok, no, it's not that either. I managed to change the settings when it crashed again to wireframe only.

It seems it refuses to even start up if it's on wireshade smoothshade...

Even odder...

Further narrowed it down. The application just won't draw anything other than wireframe. It must be something in the windows folder then i reckon.
