new computer!

I got a shiny new computer!

it runs at 2.2GHz, 3gig RAM, 22 inch (shiny) monitor, and annoyingly flat keyboard.

the video card is a NVIDIA evga 9600 with 512mb video memory!! I didn't even know those existed! Anyway, it's got (shutter) Vista on it, but so far so good. I'm downloading crysis at the moment to see if i can run on all very high, think i can do it??
(the best part is that all-in-all this cost around 900$!!)

A colleague of mine has a 3 GHz Quad Core with 4 GB RAM and a 768MB 8800 GTX and the maximum resolution Crysis can run on that system with max settings is 1024x768... Crysis sucks, and so do PCs for gaming. If you want a powerful gaming machine, get yourself an Xbox 360 or PS3. It costs less than half of your system and runs everything at max settings. ;-)

Winni that sounds crazy. He's not running Vista, is he? I ran it on XP with a considerably lower spec, did the hack to get the very high settings in XP (almost impossible to tell the difference with the highest DX10 version, even in a side by side comparison) and it ran fine in 1360*768.

i can run all very high (but shadows) on 1680 x 1050...
