Vista keyboard lag

I know somebody else (Happy Sammy?) mentioned this ages ago.

Well, my laptop has suffered from the same problem since I bought it a couple of months ago - its a Compaq Presario C757EM.

Thing is, I type fast and the keyboard lag sometimes meant letters got missed out completely. I found that by switching off the ALPS touchpad, the problem went away.

However, I've just done a check for software updates, and HP have released a BIOS upgrade which fixes this problem!

So if you've got Vista, and are experiencing any sort of keyboard lag, I'd suggest you check for BIOS updates for your motherboard. Mine is now working perfectly.

So the OEM fixed the problem rather than MS?

Sounds like the tail wagging the dog, to me. :P

Well, I read somewhere that the problem isn't exclusive to Vista, but it *is* most apparent there.

I think its more a case of Vista highlighting an existing problem than causing a new one all by itself. Either way, I'd just got used to it lagging. Its like using a different computer now - never realised just how bad it really was. :)

I have that trouble with a wireless keyboard and usually only after the laptop has been asleep.

Haha buy Vista - it's so helpful it will 'highlight' a massive array of problems with your hardware you never knew you had under XP!

i avoid wireless keyboards
id rather have a f**king long keyboard lead than have to faff around with batteries

or have to deal with this

could this be another pipeline they've encrypted to make PC computing more "secure" for the user?

That could explain the slowdown atleast..

Because i use a swedish keyboard, using the ~ and | keys on vista is a pain. It dos not seem to eliminate deadkeys properly. You have to press it twice and then delete one with a 2-3 second lag.

Not had any other laggieness except for that tho :/
(except the usual vista laggieness on network files, zip files etc. but thats another topic)
