sprite graphics websites?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/sprite graphics websites?

Can anyone recommend any websites that show off the sprite graphics from arcade games, retro games etc...

There's something about these old pixel-perfect works of art that I just love.

This one is good but the screenshots are pretty small:

I love old pixel art too, it is so clean and never seems to date like 3D stuff.

Jason.

can any of the sprites on these website be used for non commercial projects? if not, how is it legal for these websites to host these files, since some of these websites are clearly not non commercial

Most of them can't (legally) be used for anything without getting the (real) copyright holder's permission. What always amuses me is when some guy who messed about with a hex editor and extracted them demands to be credited if you use them.

thats so true and also laughable
so s/he took the time and effort to rip the images something i dont know how to do nor am i inclined
but ripping isnt the same as drawing

kinda like someone pimping an mp3 of eminem and demanding that they get their name in the artist field cos it was their cd they ripped from

some fuller animation sets do give you an idea on how to do certain 2d movement animations but only as a reference (or pre release place holder gfx)

edit
from one image

ripped by ...
Credit not required
dont steal (obviously)

thats nice cos i wouldnt have i would big up the game artist if known
