me i work for the nhs in cambridge in a giant fridge for damn near 12 hours a day (got a fortngiht off @ the mo)
making sure all the food is dispatched to the many hospitals we cater (no pun intended) for
due to the hours and the fact my brain is in a room @ 3 deg c for those hours (by myself i might add) by the time i get home coding is the last thing on my mind
started with blitz2d from a pc format demo and went from there ... only never got far due to my pre move job having similarly long hours
I am from County Durham, in the North-East of England.
I am a plasterer by trade and work for Rok (The nations local builder :P).
I started programming when I was 9 on the Amstrad CPC, up until the around 1993 (ish, and I also ran a PD library, then I discovered drink so disappeared from the programming scene up until around 2001 where I found the auld BlitzBasic demo on a cover disc.
Since then I've used Blitz+, Blitz3D and now Max, I've learned C/C++ and C#, 2D under DirectX 9, GDI/GDI+, a splattering of Java amonst others.
Thats about me! :)
I'm from Finland, Blitz3D is a hobby for me - helps me to understand our coders.... :) I also prototype and code my own game projects with Blitz3D.
My current job title is Lead Artist (in a newly formed game studio:
http://www.futuremark.com/games ) and I've been doing highend 3D gfx for living 10 years and 2 months now.
North east represent! I'm a maths student at newcastle uni.
Me - I'm a question wrapped in a query,
Po-faced and really quite dreary.
I onced split a hair, but no one was there,
So now folk think I'm a fairy.
...please don't eat me. I'm a very nice thing really..not temporary at all.
I am another member of the 'PC Format Demo' club :)
I'm smack dab right in the middle of the United States of America.
I'm a full-time student at a university to become a History Teacher for Upper Education. Part time, I'm a cashier at a local Wal-Mart.
I'm using Blitz3d to develop a submarine simulation.
I'm a former member of the 'Amiga Format Demo' club :0, only the one that made it to mags CD.... still counts! , also do programming/scripting for a living. I hail from eastern england at the moment....
I am a college student in England Berkshire, Studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing.
Working part time in a consultancy role for a local building company for there IT needs.
Started Coding in about 2002 in Blitz 3D, never really did much but dabbled.
However have now moved into using C# for work purposes and don't plan on leaving it any time soon, as well as using PHP for any website development I do.
However I still like to jump back into blitz every now and then, keep meaning to taking a more in depth look at blitz max of which I bought a license for and barely ever used.
I'm a student. I started programming about four years ago, and now don't really have too much time to get any quality projects done. Hopefully the summer will change that, with a nice coding job and no homework.
Im from England (Sheffield), but now living in Australia...
Been programming since I was about 9 on the Amstrad 464 CPC, then upgraded to the Amiga 600 a few years after and programmed in AMOS Pro, then Blitz Basic 2.
Learnt Pascal on the PC at college in England. Went to Uni, learnt C++, Java, VB, Perl, HTML/Javascript etc...
Upgraded again to the PC, where I then found like many others the BlitzBasic demo on a cover disc... tried DarkBasic, didnt like it...
Moved to Oz a few years ago, now working for Fujitsu as a programmer full time - JavaEE, Java, Javascript, PL/SQL...
Now I code in BlitzMax for games....
Originally from England. Moved to N.Ireland just over 3 years ago and loving it.
Started programming at the age of 10 on the VIC-20 followed by many 8bit and 16bit computers before seeing Doom 2 on a PC and just knew I had to say goodbye to my Amiga 1200 and get a PC.
I'm Self Employed and mostly do apps for businesses and the odd web site stuff. Originally I used VB6 but switched to Delphi about a year after XP was released and never looked back.
Spare time wise I'm writing my 2nd game in Blitz Max but have not touched it for about a month due to the above.
Currently spending a little spare time getting more familiar with PHP, MySQL and Javascript. As of right now I'm writing my first web app for a company and loving the whole new area.
I live near Pinewood Studios in England. Work on maritime and airborne related projects like sonar simulation and rotor-craft mission planning software. Like a few of you guys I started programming on my old Amstrad CPC464, many moons ago.
I think I was browsing for some info on the old Amiga Blitz when I stumbled upon the PC version. Never looked back.
I am a senior in high school from Ohio. I'm planning to attend college somewhere, and continue running my website,
www.dungeonsoffear.com.
I'm fairly new to the Blitz scene but have made great improvement in my programming over the past couple years. DOF has a blog, forum, news and development page that I update regularly even though nobody reads it. Its still fun for me to act like people see it and care.
I also code in QB, TI BASIC, and HTML.
Currently at the capital of Canada, being bored in college building my portfolio so I can spend another 3 years here working on being an animator.
Programming is just a side-hobby of mine, which I pretty much started out with BB2D then moved onto B3d from there. Haven't really touched anything else aside from some bits of Java.
Living in Suffolk England, and work as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer.
No time for programming anymore, I stick with my main hobby which is composing music.
Working nights this weekend -.- an hour and a half before I can go home.
I live in Northern California. I am a painting contractor, but am hoping to do programming as a job eventually.
I have been programming for about 26 years, the chain of systems went like this:
vic-20 => c64 => apple ][ => IBM PC => some Macintosh (Hypercard!!) => windows
Been using Blitz Basic for almost 10 years. lots of VB, Java, c++ and now learning c#/vb.net
I live in Northern California
Woot! same here. Maybe i shouldnt have said that. I guess ill just have faith none of you are rapists, murderers, or pedofiles.

Anyhoo, im a high school student, 9th grader. I do this sort of stuff as a hobby, but hope to some day make games as a professional. Ive wanted to do that all my life.
Brucey harks from the north of Scotland, has been in South Africa for the past three years, but is heading back to the UK in May. Yay.
His day job mostly involves Java, but he's also expect to answer questions on Informix 4GL, VB, Corba, Oracle and Unix admin.
Otherwise, he's much more interested in creating useful things with BlitzMax.
Currently staying in South Africa (South Coast). Married to a Scotish lass from Paisley. I have part ownership of a IT company located in England. We develop software for the retail courier industry.
I have a private pilots license and presently working towards my commercial license. So, not much time to write games at the moment.
I live in Norwich England. Work as a asp.net developer. Started coding on the ZX81 when I was 8... Found blitz through dark basic, never looked back.
At daytime I work as a telecommunications engineer in a company in Finland, and at night & weekends I lead a second secret life as a wannabe game designer. ;)
Originally from Hampshire England, I now live in the `mid-West` United States since 2000. My day job is in website maintenance for a lighting/furniture company - they have a store but also a retail website so I do most of the work updating the site. It's not really my passion but it's a step in the right direction and there's lots of opportunity to learn about running an internet business (for the future).
BlitzMax programming is currently a hobby, in the sense that I am not earning anything from it, but I am working on a few serious projects intending that I make money from them eventually. I hope to be able to do that full-time eventually, to set up my own business and not have to work for other people.
Started out playing games on an Amstrad CPC464 which was my Uncle's, and later had a Spectrum 16 and a Commodore 64 but didn't really make the switch to creating stuff until my Amiga 500 in 1989. Later got an A1200 and then later put it into a tower with accelerator/graphics card etc. Sold it all when I immigrated. Wife used Mac's in the USA so I had no choice but to adopt it. Did zero programming for 5 years until BlitzMax came along on the Mac, then I jumped back into it. Quite a lot has improved in that time - I'm still not on the 3D bandwagon, but I'm making good progress. In a way it's a good thing not to have been caught up in the crowd, to take a fresh approach.
By day, I'm a mild mannered janitor but, by night, I'm Hong Kong Phooey!
Montreal, working at Artificial Mind & Movement as a Game Programmer for 2 years now. Been programming since I was 12, on QBasic, and then VB, C/C++. Got 2 degrees in Computer Science, and here am I coding games ;) I don't use Blitz anymore (moved on to Ogre), but I like to see what comes out from the community.
lol@big10p
I live on the island of Oahu. I was born and raised in Southern California. Currently I'm taking a break from school where I am an Illustration major.
I'm from East Kilbride, in Scotland. I work in a paint factory, one of the very few manufactures of paint left in Scotland. Proud to work in the manufacturing industry, as it's rapidly dying off...
I saw blitz2d on the cover of a magazine. Tried it, it annoyed me, so i got rid of it. Couple of years later, tried it again, gave it more than 5 minutes of my time, and loved it. I had grand ideas of all sorts of great games i could make. Knew nothing of AI, tile maps, path finding, so got as far as moving a guy around the screen.
5 years later, i have learned pathfinding and tile maps and all sorts of things. Might get round to making a real game someday :o)
Nice to hear everyones stories.
I was originally from London England, but moved to Tucson Arizona in Aug 2000.
I am now a HVAC/Maintenance Tech.
