Best 64 Music ever

Title should read "C64" not "64" sorry.

I've already got the whole HVSD collection and made my own little compilations of my favourites but there's too many to choose from (like 20,000!). So it's nice to have that page with 64 of the best (many of the ones I'd already selected are on that list but there are some nice new finds!)

dont know bout the c64 version but the st version of ben dalglish's (sp) deflektor had me hooked throughout many an hour on that game

Not C64, but a public domain game named Croco Magneto was a classic and the music rocked, I ripped the music when I done a remake, its backed up somewhere, will have to look! :)

Glad to see "Monty on the run" at the top. That tune is just fantastic.

Rob Hubbard and Martin Gallway made some amazing and memorable music for the C64. SID was one of the best sound chips for audio/sfx at the time.

The 'Ocean Loader' for me though is the most pleasurable piece of music to listen to!

Whaaa? Sid tunes? I've got a billion of THOSE. :-)

Jim: Yeah the various Ocean loaders are favourites of mine too.

Sswift: Yeah like I said, I have like 20000 of them, but it's nice to have a handy "best of" list :-) I convert my favourites to wav so I can put them on CD and also listen without using SidPlay (which can't have playlists (or can it?))

I still love to listen to SID music, but my wife thinks it's just noise.

Thanatos. Glider Rider and Amaurote, if they were available on the C64. Although very basic, the ditties that played in 'Time Tunnel' created a great atmosphere somehow.

Yeah I had that in my original batch of favourites, it's classic with that big "swelling" noise :-)

Last Ninja is definitely one of my all time favorites. Also Zoids by Rob Hubbard (although not technically his original composition) is fantastic.

SID fans should take a look at Visa Röster, a Swedish a cappella group. They've made some fantastic vocal arrangements of classic 8-bit tunes.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is Commando not on the list, and not in the top 10 ?

Commando is no. 41 of course.

Tim Follin and Ben Daglish are 2 of my favorites, also like some David Whittaker, also some Mark Cooksey who did great work on arcade music conversions (Ghost 'n Goblins, bombjack, Space Harrier, 1942)

How on earth could they miss out Daley Thompsons Olympic Challenge and its loader screen? The best tunes on the C64 by far.
