Only when the work I'm doing doesn't require any brain work, otherwise, as mentioned, it's distracting.

I listen to all sorts of music when coding.

The only music I can listen too when coding is music without lyrics, or music witout lyrics I understand. The Von album by sigr ros has done me well.

Yes, sometimes : electro (NEW BEAT, TECHNO, HARDCORE, ACID, etc)... with the headphones. I can keep my concentration with ;)

I use music to stop my brain paying attention to anything else going on in the room.

It varies, but usually music by prodigy, led zeppelin, or sometimes ulrich schnauss.

But then again, It's probably been a decade since I last turned on a radio, and a year or so since I put on a CD.
Never use the stereo in my car either.

(I don't really /mind/ background music, but tend to just tune it out. Never go out of my way to turn it on, though)

Kings of Leon, Amy Winehouse, Ben Folds, The Strokes, The White Stripes, Feist, and dozens more.

I go through phases in which I listen to only one artist, but I usually get bored of them after a few weeks and find another.

It does get extremely distracting when trying to come up with more complex code. I just take the headphones off for that haha.

Yeah listen to music all day at work while coding to drown out the noise of the open plan office.

I find music to be really distracting. Perhaps I'm just no good at multi-tasking.
