Besides www.amazon.com, are there any other on-line reliable bookstore? Any discount or shipping charges?

Been using QuidCo myself for a while and cant recommend them enuff.

Usually if I'm after a book that isnt readily available on websites like Amazon etc, I just take the ISBN to my local Waterstones and order it.

The longest I had to wait was a week for a compiler design book (Nearly all theory... OMG), they ring up when its in and best of all, no delivery charges! :)

Depends on the country you live in. In Germany, you could try www.books.de.

In the US, Borders has now teamed with Amazon. So www.borders.com basically is an Amazon website.

I use Overstock.com who have flat rate $3 shipping even if it weighs a ton. Often its free and with books they always beat amazon by at least 5%.

I also use Half.com for used books, great deals to be had there, and flat rate shipping. Often get perfect condition books at bargain basement prices. Usualy categorized in condition and price, with other editions at the bottom. They have flat rate shipping too.

Not sure if these places are for North America only though.

Pick from both new and 2nd hand, although you should check the ratings of the seller.
