recommend an email client?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/recommend an email client?

Due to my Sky email not working at all I've signed up for a Googlemail account, but I hate Outlook Express.

Can someone recommend an email client that is safe and simple to use? I never want to look at emails as HTML or with images in them or crap like that, I just want one that works fast and doesn't suffer from virus-related problems.

Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/thunderbird/

If you don't want viruses and don't like Outlook Express, why not just read your email on the web? I used to use Thunderbird, as I much preferred it to OE, but in the end, I found it easier to just stick with webmail, since all my accounts support it. It saves an awful lot of fannying around trying to get accounts synced, reading in various locations, etc, because all that stuff happens automatically.

On Windows: Ritlabs The Bat! I think it is the best email client, but it's not free.

Thunderbird is a good second choice, it's available on all platforms and it's free.

Pegasus Mail used to be very popular, and I know many people who are still using it daily.

And some people even like to use Opera as their mail client.

I use gmail and mostly read online. But all my gmail mail is forwarded to my Thunderbird client (or the other way round).

Definitely recommend both.

Yeah very easy to set up Thunderbird with Gmail. Built in support.

Back when I used Windows, I used the predecessor to this program - http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Courier/

It's free, fast, and has a lot of features that you can tweak, including an option that will strip everything out of HTML emails except the text itself.

OK, I've gone for Thunderbird, as Firefox is very good. Thunderbird even auto-configured itself based upon Outlook, which was great.

Cheers people!

Thunderbird > Outlook > Windows Mail > Opera (as an email client).
