Time For a New Pc

Having just lost my pc to a joint mb and cpu failure im building a new rig.

Im looking at a £800 budget maximum

1.The Wanted Parts
Q6600 GO Stepping
8800gt 512mb graphics
2*2gb 6400 DDRII ram paired
Motherboard 680i or 780i ?
Psu to suit Sli ie 2*8800gt 512mb
Nice Spacial Case with room for modifications while being able to accomodate the above parts

2.Parts ive got but could be improved
300gb Hd IDE
Internal and External CD/DVD RW+/-
250gb Ext Usb 2.0 Hd
Sticking to moniter as im making game for max 1280*1024 res

Im aiming for a reasonalble Price vs Performance setup
Considering Going for 2*8800gt if price within margin
or buying a good sized/performance ration graphics tablet

no software needed as bought oems ready for future build
will be xp operating system

was wondering if anybody had a reccomendations

a great system leaving you with spare cash for the drives/graphics card/s although you might want to upgrade the PSU if you are going to use 2 graphics cards.

Antec Solo case is well built, easy to install and quiet. Maybe not the best looking case around but I like mine.

aiming to clock to 4*3ghz but will be happy with 2.7ghz
this will be a good improvement as a developement enviroment

While Doing modelling & skinning i use multipul high cpu apps so this might just give me the extra legroom :)

The 9600's are out now and sit around the same price as the 8800GT's I hear they outperform them as well (unverified).

Good entry level pc but wouldnt cope running Zbrush3,xsi,pse6 and silo 2 at the same time which is my basic developement base

Tbh there no real reason to go above 8800gt expect for benchmarks as there will be now major leeps until the gpu physics side has established or performance exceeds +50%

sounds like a dyson going to install xp ready for first benching

9 fans! I'm surprised the lights don't dim when you power up that beast. I suppose if one fails there'll still be another 8 pushing air round the innards of your PC.
