Brain control story
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Brain control story I'll believe it when I try it out. Would be amazing for complex games involving lots of different controls.
I am in two minds about this. My optimistic side assures me that this is 'the future' maybe not this version of the technology, but down the line computers will get more intigrated with humans/the brain.
My pessimistic side has decided that companies have spent decades not getting voice technology right, and this seems a lot more complicated.
Absolutly any new control device that has come out can't beat the mouse and keyboard for FPS gaming. Even the wiimote emulates the same control, but isn't as fast. I give FPS games as an example, as they are really the only competative game genre group of people who would spend £200 on a device that would make them play better and faster then thier opponent, and until something comes along that allows faster interaction, its not going to survive.
Even steering wheel controls arn't used in competative racing tournaments, as they arn't as fast as a joypad stick.
I also think it would be a lot worse for complicated games. If you watch some more videos of it around, one thing is common in all of them, that you have to really concentrate to get 1 very basic control.

Brain controllers will come. It's just not a good idea to be too optimistic. Maybe in 50 years or more. The voice technology boomboom mentioned is currently going in a wrong path. What it needs is a learning computer. We'll have to wait for that for 100 years.

Last time I saw something like this, you had to think certain things to change your brainwaves and it would detect this, but it could only move something left or right, so VERY limited.
