Music Creation Software

Hi Guys

Any good music creation software you can recommend for creating game music, im aware of the ejay line of products but looking for more choice.

Its not bad priced too, which is great for such a savvy app!

For sample sequencing, I use Acid Pro 3, I bought Acid Music many moons ago and upgraded from there.

I messed around with Dance eJay a long time ago, and it was decent enough for basic music creation, but Acid is much better.

You can save your creations as wav files and convert them to MP3 with Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Anyone know of any good instrument sound sample packs, im looking through the links provided.

I can only recommend stuff for (and mostly from) Apple, and that's what I have:
- Logic Express 8
- Soundtrack Pro
- Propellerhead Reason
- Ableton Live
- Amadeus Pro
- And all Apple Garageband Jam Packs, which are an awesome collection of high quality instruments and loops

For Windows: I don't know. Ableton Live and Propellerhead Reason are available there as well, but not the Apple stuff.

You should get yourself a Mac with Logic Pro Studio - it includes Logic Pro 8, Soundtrack Pro 2 and ALL Apple Jam Packs, which alone cost as much as the entire Studio Package (and are worth every single penny of it). I don't think you'd need anything else. If I hadn't already collected all the other stuff in pieces before Studio 8 came out, I'd only buy this.

ACID Music Studio 7 looks good and its price is nice at £38.95, right now ACID Pro 6 at £204.95 is out of my price range.

It depends on the theme you want, all the packs on that site have some preview sounds that give you an idea of the overall pack.

I quite like the Laswell sounds, got a few of them as part of my sample download subscription thingy in Acid.

The sound quality and dynamic created by any PC software program is just horrible. I recommend to buy a Yamaha Motif-XS7 and make the music there, then just record it on your PC and save as .ogg.

No vote for FLStudio (Fruity-loops studio)? (Windows...)

Comes with a *shitload* of synths and settings, samples....

For an audio sequencer I wholeheartedly recommend Reaper




It is also an excellent VSTi host, and comes with a lot of plugins.

Most importantly, - after using Cubase for many years, it's really great to finally use something that is rock-stable.

You're wrong.

Your comparison is similar to comparing QBasic (typical synth/ROMpler) with BlitzMax (PC software).

BTW, some good Mod music are cheap, very capable for game size :P
