Help - I need a new keyboard and mouse
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Help - I need a new keyboard and mouse
The time has come to replace my keyboard and mouse. I currently use a Bluetooth combo but I've had enough of swapping batteries. I want to switch back to a wired solution.
Can anyone recommend a good keyboard and mouse? Is there one make that is generally regarded as the best these days?
Is the Logitech MX400 mouse any good?
I've owned three logitech mice in my 17 years as a PC owner, they've always been good to me.
As for keyboards, I have a
logitech G15, and it's very good.
if you have a pc world or some such and they have kb's on display try some out ... see how they feel, thats just something you just dont get looking at a websites stock
That G15 looks nice.
Unfortunately the nearest PC World is quite a distance away. It's probably worth me making the trip if they have them on display though.
be careful of the G15, a wow player got banned recently for using one:

i read the whole of the post
had to down size back to 800:600 as zoom didnt autowrap and i got bored of side scrolling
in the end it wasnt the programable keyboard that resulted in the ban (although it took blizzard a fair amount of time to say yay or nay)
it was the fact that he left his avatar 99.999999 un attended just hitting the odd macro key now and then inbetween dialogue on a dvd (or any other not playing WoW reason) which he admitted doing
so it seems you can get banned from WoW just by booting up logging in and standing around doing didly (admitidly for hours on end)
Logitech do a mouse with a 3200dpi sensor. The G9. In this day and age of 1920x1200 screen resolutions, a highly sensitive mouse is a godsend!
I've got an Evoluent vertical mouse (because of RSI) with a 3200dpi sensor and it's an absolute dream to use.
As far as keyboards go, I'm quite happy with my generic aluminium 'laptop style' keyboard (it has low-profile and short-travel keys). I've been a bit funny about keyboards since I started getting pain in my hands but this cheapy thing is quite nice.
If money was no object, I'd buy one of these:

I have a Logitech mouse and a Microsoft keyboard.
Which model mouse and keyboard Gfk? Are they wired?
Both wired. Not a fan of wireless keyboard/mice because of the battery issue.
Logitech Click

Microsoft Internet Keyboard
Cheers Gfk.
@andy_mc: this was a big deal a while ago as Warden (Blizzards sentry which searches for 3rd party apps interfering with the client) wrongfully flagged people running WoW through Wine on a Linux box as cheaters.
I've used the G15 keyboard all through my 3 year WoW subscription, and have had no problems with Warden.
It could be flagged if you use the G15's macro functions, where you can string together keypresses and bind them to the 15 customizable buttons, however just using the buttons to send weird key combinations to WoW is no problem at all.
For example, I use the first 6 keys in the upper left corner of the keyboard as mark macros when playing a tank in WoW. (G1 Skull, G2 Square and so forth)
I have a Saitek Eclipse keyboard, nice feel to it and a nice blue glow coming from the keys..
ashmantle: I just hit 70 with my warrior and have no idea how to tank, is that bad? Then again, since hitting 70 I've lost all the need to play it.
I'd try some down the store and see which ones seem comfortable.
I like logitecs wireless setup, but if you want wored thats not an issue. I don't like the way logitec mice feel in my hand, and not all of them have well placed back and forward buttons.
I really like the feel of MS mice, a wired one would be better than their wireless I'm stuck with for now.
As for keyboards I don't get much choice since I now prefer natural keyboards and won't go back
