Nonetheless, why did they have you unisntall AdAware? i doubt Kaspersky has one as good as AdAware.
Real time internet traffic scanning sounds slow. Other wise, it looks good.

Well this PC is a dual core P4. Runs like a dog cause he has so much stuff installed on it. It's updating at 10 KB/s on a 2 Mb connection :D Fun!

Ok, runs like a dog... COnstantly scans everything. It might just be this computer. Is it me or is anti-virus scanning becoming excessive... Everything i do... man.
funny that they don't compare themself against Nod32 ... if this has to do that the list would be as long + extra features + lower cpu usage?
Why don't they compare themselves against Grisoft? Because it'll make their own product look rubbish?
AVG is nice ... but against kaspersky it would die down definitely.

Complete protection comes at a heavy price of 20% of the original speed. It's funny that isn't it? A program that claims it will stop virus and spyware programs from slowing down and taking over your computer.

I use NOD32, but it seems you don't have a choice at work. Nod doesn't use many resources except ram, and isn't noticeable running in the background even on my ageing single core PC.

Just installed Kaspersky on a friends two Vista Maschines. It F**K his HP machine up by changing a setting so that the Vista license key was invalid and couldn't reactivate it. In the end I had to do a clean install from a OEM disk and get rid of the HP crap.
The other machine was a Packard Bell this wored ok, but I suspect this was because it also had a clean install with a OEM disk to get rid of PB's crap.
Why PC manufactures load their machines with useless junk I will never know. For christ sake who the hell is going to want programs by default. They should just pre-load with the OS and give you the option for what applications you want to load.
One more thing Kaspersky will require a HOT FIX that you have to ask Microsoft for if your using Vista (unless it's in the new service pack). This fixes "Out of Memory" errors that you can encounter when trying to "group" copying files that exceed a total of 16400 after this then it's best to reboot or face unpredictable results like the BSOD.

After about 10 different solutions I tested in the last 12 months, Nod is the one I had the most success with so far at the lowest price performance wise.
Some even were that crappy programmed that they tended to lock one of my 2 cores from time to time (because they are incapable to work nicely side a side with the User Hive Cleanup services from Microsoft)

Dual core P4?
There's no such thing... Either you have a Pentium-D, or a Pentium 4 with hyperthreading (which looks like a dual core in the taskmanager, but gives you next-to-no improvement over a 'normal' P4 without hyperthreading)

Must be the hyperthreading. The sticker on the case says hyper threading. Which is strange, because in the task manager it lets me choose which core to run each app on. Choose affinity i belive it's called.
I was using AVG until recently, have now switched to NOD.

hypertrheading just fakes a dual-core to the operating system, but but all it really does it run certain instructions at the same time as others since not the entire CPU is busy at the same time.

Yeah, the free part is the best bit. If your halfway decent with computers, most threats can be removed by specific tools, or good ole safe mode. I hate the word Suite in a software package. Usually spells trouble, or lots of stuff you don't need :o)
