I read a artical with the games designer in edge about AVP 2 that said this game took just free months to make. To me this is very sad that they can release such poor quality rubbish and waste a good licence. I see it as another reason to not buy a psp. Its not alone as the article says that companys alow only 4 months for the average psp game, even with a great team i fail to see how anyone could put together anything but a simple game in this time. This sort of thing could kill off a console.

Its hardly a new 'thing'.

You can say exactly the same about any of Ocean Software's movie tie-ins from 15+ years ago (most of which used the same platform game engine).

Atari Jaguar, where are you now....?

only movie tie-ins I like is Goldeneye on n64 and maybe some of the star wars games. worst has to be THQs home alone and cliff jumper games on the snes. I would say ET on the atari 2600 but thats not even a working game.

That's true 100% - There were quite a few really horrendous movie based games back then. Really really awful.

The best movie based game back then was definitely Ghost Busters on the C64. The best character tie in was the game Bruce Lee. Pretty much everything else franchise wise was shockingly bad.

Of course there were a few gems loosely based around a franchise, like Alien Breed, but they were thin on the ground to say the least.

Think about it though, if you have a framework done up for an FPS, or even a third person game, what do you really need to do besides change the media, besides a few minor tweaks here and there? Granted you then have cookie cutter games, which doesn't give you a good reputation. What is it, Wizards and Elves I believe for the DS? John Carmack wrote the whole engine for it in a week.

I do agree with you just trying to point out, a game doesn't necessarily have to take forever to be of decent quality.

How long is that for us mortals?

iD made a game for the DS? I didn't know that, interesting.
