Hey there, i remember seeing an excellent screenshot of a wall that had been lightmapped, but with a DOT 3 normal map. The lightmap seemed to be affecting it. And i remember saying you did this with Gile[s].
Can you share your secret for this please :o)
Well, we need to find out who this "Giles" is - he clearly knows what time it is.
Which one of you maggots is "Giles"? Step forward and raise your right paw.
I'm Giles, and so's my wife.
The image i talk of is this effect:
That looks exciting.
It doesn't look all plasticky and bent.
I might steal it and use it for tree bark.
"puki" ponders the GUI reference that leads to the frogs. Why does it have bcf in the name? Why are church mice quiet?
hey Ross..yes, lightmapping is done in Giles, and normalmap is applied on the fly, within code...I didnt assign normalmap within Giles...
"I'm Giles, and so's my wife. "
What?!?..... no!... IM GILES!
'Es m-m-muh-m-mad sir!
..I'll post source+ media when I get back home..nothing fancy in there :)
here is media+source...so you can try it for yourself..nothing fancy, you just have to set up cubenormals and its working fine...Im working on small editor what can generate proper cubenormals, based on given lightmaps...'njoyy

Thanks man. I've been racking my brains over this. Been working away in Gile[s] and i converted my lightmap into a normalmap and converted all my textures into normal maps, but loaded them as normal textures. Works great, except the light angles are wrong or dont't work.
Ok, i've tried it out on my level, and it doesn't look great... It's all to dark, and contrasted. I think this technique is maybe suitable to smaller objects. I'll keep pressing on though. Thanks again for the code :o)
its all black because cubenormals wasnt generated out for your lightmap :) .. I'll post small editor what can do such things for ya, and you just load given cubenormal and lightnormal textures and it should work..this example I post was done on that way..
Oh i see. That would be great, thanks for your help :o)
