Windows Media Player 11 Question

I`ve just started to use WMP 11 and have just been wondering if it is possible to get it to start on the now playing tab when I start the program up. The old one used to start on whichever tab you were on when you closed it but version 11 seems to load up with the library tab showing. Also there are some annoying white artifacts in the corners of the WMP window that are there until I maximise or refresh the display. Is this a known issue? I`m on WinXP Home.

Any help would be most welcome.

I found the answer on the Microsoft site ages ago when I wanted to do the same thing.

You can add /Task:NowPlaying to the commandline. Personally I've learned to live with it since I've reinstalled Windows too many times and I can't be bothered faffing.

Any other command line options you know for windows media player 10? :D

Gfx, could you please explain how to add this line to the command prompt as I have very little knowledge on the subject. Is it possible to add the line you mentioned so that it executes automatically whenever the program is started?

Start>All Programs, Right-click Windows Media Player. Click the shortcut tab and make sure the target reads:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:1 /Task:NowPlaying (including the quote marks).

out of interest can wmp convert wav to mp3?
ive looked but not seen anything blatantly obvious
i used to use an old version of jukebox before yahoo took it over but thats rolled over and died and the yahoo one is just as vauge as wmp.

i dont want to have to burn my 512mb sd card .wav's to cd audio just to rip it back down to mp3 it seems too long winded

Yup-ish. If you select "Copy to device or CD" and make sure the destination is set to Data CD (or a removable device) then you can click on the "Display Properties and Settings" button and manually set the audio quality. You get wma file, though (well you might have the option to rip to mp3 (under Tools/Options/Copy Music), I'm still on version 9 and never installed any plugins for it... my portable player plays wma and I rip to m4a and use VLC/WinAmp on desktops).

i did the long winded route and burnt as audio
i was posting a cd anyhows (my mobile modem is too slow to upload ... 1st class mail is faster :)) )

now all i have to do is copy sd data to usb hdd blank the card and do a solid take of fxness for however mins i get from 512mb :)
