Vista ReadyBoost is actually pretty cool.

When I heard about it to start with I thought ReadyBoost was a waste of time but having spent a little time on it, it's a nice benefit.

It is a waste of time ... put a readyboost stick in and listen to web radio and ask yourself why the machine starts stuttering. As a little hint: Vista has the gorgous capability to replicate the webstream onto the ready boost device ...

This is a little stupid. he has to use an external stick as a ram device to get vista to be able to open firebox 'instantly'.

I get that in XP without any weird doings.

I can imagine that will kill a ram stick in notime (finite writes) Youd be changing memory sticks like batteries :P

I've not had any problems with online radio, although the only online radio I really listen to is the BBC ones. The Cosair stick is supposed to be good for over 100,000 writes so I think it will be ok for a while and TBH I wasn't using it any more anyway (2 GB seems so small now).

Well then you do have that much RAM that you don't need it or have a dual core ... (mine had 1GB RAM)

Sadly my tablet came with Windoof Vista as it is advertised as Vista capable (worst joke since P2 beeing XP capable or ME beeing capable of anything else than crashing). But due to the single core world and Vistas totally borked process handling I can guarantee that listing to a 96k++ radio stream will stop your system within a few minutes ...

And I've a Corsair ReadyBoost, 20mb/s stick myself ...

The main advantage of the whole readyboost thing is that it can help narrow down finding a reasonably fast USB stick... If you see one labeled with the Vista readyboost logo, at least you know it won't be one of the dog-slow ones.

Or, knowing MS and Manufacturers: they will make a "Readyboost Ready" logo. Then it'll work, probably be unusable, but it'll work :-)

Cygnus, how about "Ready for Readyboost Ready", that would be even more Microsoft.
