Computer problem?

I have problem with new computer as I cant get in window and all I see is blue background with white fonts saying this

"STOP: C000135 {unable to locate Component}

This Application has failed to start becase Basemcoc32(Yes it is correct spelling as I have double check it) was not found. Re-stalling the application may fix the problem."

From what I'm reading from Google searches, you'll need to boot into the command prompt (does anyone even keep a startup disc handy these days?) and replace whatever file it can't locate (your basemcoc32 results in zero results).

Anychance your PC came with the Windows XP disc (or a restore disc)? If so, you can always try a repair installation and see if that works.

I dont have operating system as I have to buy window xp home edition on ebay as I wont be buying in pc world shop!

p.s. The computer I have bought was from computer fair(with window xp home edition on the hard drive) but it didnt come with Window xp home edition CD as I would have pay extra!

I have never heard of 'Basemcoc32' - I don't have it as a file on any of my computers. I'm assuming it possibly is not an actual file, but might be a service or other Windows componement.

Has this PC booted okay before?

it was fine before but when I had virus on my computer and I delete basemcoc32 which I thought it was virus and restart the computer and now I cant get in window or even go in safe mode either :(

I've tried a few technical reference sites - including Microsoft. Nobody seems to have heard of 'basemcoc32'.

However, it doesn't have to be a Windows' component to cause a STOP error - it could be any 3rd party application that was expected to launch and Windows panics as it cannot find it.

do U think I should get window xp home edition CD or Recover disk from ebay as that might solve the problem on my new computer as I dont want to FORMAT my hard drive as I got some important files in there!

You might waste your time trying to fix it. I'm assuming WindowsXP will have to be re-installed - however, your data should be safe.

If you have more than one computer, then why not stick the hard-drive in another computer and see if you can access it. You can then have a go at trying to find the deleted file - plus you can copy any important data off of the drive.

EDIT:
if doing this then obviously put the drive in as a second one/slave.

IF you have a non-OEM installation disc of XP which won't format your entire harddrive first before installing itself. (!!!)

Not all XP installs behave the same...

Another very useful tool is the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows -- it can create a bootable CD with windows XP on it, including a whole bunch of troubleshooting tools. you can plop in the UBCD, and see your harddrive. you can then copy the file(s) you need from USB drive or another CD.

Of course, that won't do you any good if you don't already have an XP installation disk handy to generate the UBCD out of. :-?

Bought one once from PC RIPP OFF "NEVER AGAIN!"
Now I just build my own and buy a installation disk. At least then I know I can fix it my self without voiding any warranties, destroying the hidden recovery partion or them saying "We only cover products for 28 days when purchased. You have to contact the manufacture for support!"

NEVER BUY ANY THING COMPONENT TYPE FROM A COMPUTER FAIR THAT COSTS MORE THAN £10. THERE'S NO GUARANTY THAT THE TRADER WILL BE THERE EVER AGAIN (This happend to me and a few others with a DVD ROM drives that never worked to start with). IF YOU GO TO COMPUTER FAIRS REGULARLY MAKE A NOTE OF WHICH TRADERS ARE THERE ALL THE TIME AND READ THE BOOKLET THAT THEY HAVE ON OFFER WHEN YOU ENTER THE FAIR FOR TIPS ON PURCHASING AND RETURNING GOODS.

I wouldn't buy anything from PC World. They over charge you for everything, including a simple mouse. There PC's are pretty much designed not to be upgradable, and they often stick the wrong prices on stuff so when you get to the checkout, it's a different price.

PLUS, they only have, at most, one guy who knows the slightest thing of computers. Every question is greeted by:

"Erm, i'll need to find John, our Technical guy"

THEN, they bring in ... "The Tech Guys". "Give these people £85 and they will sort out your computer!". Erm, no thanks.

And also, i hate those stupid adverts they have where the woman comes in and asks the "Highly Trained" assistant what kind of PC to buy, and he spits out some system specs, whilst she looks dazzled at it, probably not knowing a thing of what he said. In fact, the guy included in that.

People, People. it's PISSY World!!!

My one and only experience purchasing a system at PC world:

ME: "Hi there, I am looking for a system with a spec similar to <x>,<y>,<z> and an intel core 2 duo processor. No monitor, keyboard or mouse thanks."
Salesguy: "Well, there's This model, which has a pentium D processor. That's dual core! It's faster than the Core 2 Duo since it has a 3.4ghz clock speed."

ME: "The pentium D is an older model processor. I would like a new model."

Him: "Well, I can't see any IC2Ds on the floor. Still, this Pentium D based system is plenty powerful. Look at the video of these games!"

ME: *slaps head....* (OK, well, I was desperate here so I continued) "OK, so say I go for that one. I already have a nice monitor, keyboard and mouse, and I have already got an OS license. Can you remove those charges?"

Salesguy: "Well, they are built as part of the machine..."

ME: "The monitor, keyboard and mouse aren't. I can put up with the keyboard and mouse, but I don't want to pay for an extra monitor."

Him: "I'll need to check with my manager. (goes to check.) OK, yeah sure. What was the other thing you wanted?"

ME: "Uh... No OS charge..."

Him: "OS? uh, I'll ask my manager again. (goes to check.) Oh! No unfortunately we can't remove Windows off of the machines."

ME: "How about you just uh... don't put windows on there to begin with?"

Salesguy: "Sir, they come with Windows..."

Regardless, I decided to take this poor soul all the way to the end. At the sales end:

Him: "Sir, we can check your credit rating right now. You don't need to wait. It won't hurt your credit rating"
(I'd *just* opened my account, so I wasn't going to get "credit" on anything. besides, I wanted to pay cash...)

Me: "No, no, it's alright, I'll cmoe back tomorrow with the cash."

Him: "Sir, I assure you, we can do the credit check now, and you can leave the store with your PC!"

Me: "Are you on compensation?"

Him: *laughs* "Nah!"

The conversation went on for another 5 minutes until I couldn't hold in my laughter anymore, the guy was a new worker obviously, and I have never seen a poor soul so despserate to impress. Shame he didn't know much about computers.

I felt sorry for him really.

I ended up buying my new laptop from PC World. The sales guy actually KNEW what he was talking about.

He won't last long. PC World won't tolerate that sort of behaviour.

true. I got kicked out of Maplin. I was the *only* person there who didn't drop out of college, and the boss had to *assert* herself on me- tried telling me false truths etc. Of course, I knew what I was talking about and refused to listen, ultimately getting me kicked for not listening to the boss.

I had a lot of knowledge.

These days, I go into the maplin stores on occasion. Nobody there knows what they are doing anymore- when I was there, the people I worked with ALL knew what they were talking about.

For instance, I asked for a Graphics card and the "It expert".... tried to sell me... a TV tuner. I mean.... WTF!?

What make of pc is it (e.g pacard bell etc) there could be a possibility that there is a recovery partion on on the hard drive. A search on the manufactures web site my be helpful in giving instruction on how to do this.

i poped online to do some 4track/digital recorder pricing the other night and found a nice gizmo a zoom h4 for a penny under £200 and a not quite what im looking for zoom h2 for £50 less

now their is a branch near me so yesterday i set off and they had stock ... i didnt phone in advance like they say on the website cos i was going to ask if they could post it to my work place instead if they didnt have it on them
they did so my bank account ended up £199.99 thinner and my mate in manchester that closer to getting some more obnoxious bass drones and other fx

now i also needed to look into new bass strings as i sometimes bow it with one of those knife sharpners so im going to file it away at some point and spotted a zoom B2.1u fx board (i started off on my brothers old zoom board and got the G2.1u 2 years ago, but as i was using a bass and this was for bass not guitar the fx might sound differently and as i get paid in a few days i thought id ask if they had one in stock

just as i was about to ask someone asked the guy behind the counter about microphones for podcasting
i listened in hoping to butt in with the h2 option
they stopped talking and i got my chance
i hadnt read too much about what it did and didnt do

but it had this in its favour
it was all in one no need for a laptop
it used SD cards cheap as chips (pun intended)
battery/mains = portable and impromptu
usb file transfer
4 microphones so you could plonk it on the desk one side faceing you (with the buttons) and the other side facing the interviewee

no setting up a laptop getting leveling right and then having a crash whilst saving (my pc is prone to resetting every odd CD insertion) it records as cd quality wav or mp3

they didnt have stock but could order it, the shop was 5 mins by bike so he went to look (he guy behind the counter did meantion them as a better option for mics as they are more for studio work than they were as they were predominantly musical instruments so i wasnt loosing them a sale infact i bought the B2.1u and now have 3 copies of cubase LE)

i just butted in with some impartiallity (which shops lack and sometimes knowledge of wtf they are selling)

and its me new toy i iz excited and skint at the same time :))

I wasnt too sure who glazed over first when condenser mics were meantioned me or the bloke who didnt look like he should be working in a music shop
every other time ive been in there its been staffed by dreadlocked (didnt i see you busking last night) studenty type peeps who play what they sell

perhaps this guy does know his apples but i didnt buy it visually

Like.. a large chunk of the A+ class I "studied" with.

One guy was so bad that when he was handed a PC with the heatsink detached (and...sitting on the bottom of the chasis, he couldn't spot what was wrong, even turned the PC on.

We sat for a full 5 minutes behind him saying things like, "Dude, I can smell something burning!" but to no avail.

I ended up programming a GUI that replicated windows 2000 but had "<x> has been detected near the machine, so your active desktop has been disabled" and "No applications are suitable for use by the current user"

Daft fucker.

Luckily he didn't pass, but he survived the whole year!
