wired to wireless?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/wired to wireless?

Does anyone know if such a thing as a device that you can plug into an Ethernet port that will provide a wireless relay exists?

if so, where can I get one?

I believe there are USB ones? Not sure though.

you misunderstand, I am looking for an ethernet rj45 -> wireless network converting thingummybob, not a USB network card (of which I have one).

*EDIT*
I picture it as being a little one port wireless router that essentially has a DMZ enabled by default.

A wireless adapter that plugs into a RJ45 socket?

Not sure such a thing exists but I'll keep an eye out...

[edit] You after something like this?

Was about to post what Gfk edited in (which I do own btw, except that it's a pain in the arse to setup), but was unsure if you wanted something that created a wireless network for devices to connect (like those USB sticks that act as a wireless access point), or something that could receive wireless signals from an ethernet port.

That looks pretty close to what I was picturing, need to read more about it.

thanks :)

Yes, they're called game bridge adaptors, I own one I use for my old xbox.

Basically, it plugs into any ethernet socket on any device, and creates a bridge onto your wi-fi network, so the device thinks it's on a wired network when it's not.

There you go....

Man I amaze myself sometimes.....

Well im not 100 percent sure if this is what your asking, but you can get a thing that plugs into the wall. It recieves the connection, and bounces it, giving you a better connection.

Once again, im not sure if thats what your looking for, but i just thought i would try to help.
