Ultimate unwrap as a level creator

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Ultimate unwrap as a level creator

The latest version of Ultimate Unwrap is actually a great little level editor. The fact it can import and export many formats, it can create bones, assign vertices to bones, create animation frames, edit animation frames, let you split up your meshes into groups... etc etc, the list goes on and on.

Its got a gizmo too, making moving, rotating and scaling meshes sooooooo much easier. It really is an amazong tool for the price, and i'm going to use it as a level editor now, i'm that used to the interface.

Just thought i'd share that with you! If you don't have much in the way of cash and need an application to edit/create levels, then its perfect. Pair it with Gile[s] and yer laughing!

what about csg doesnt it need that?

No.

No I don't think that you can count on Ultimate unwrap as a level creator. Although it is a great tool for unwrapping gizmo in the 3D view terrible

Ok, maybe i should have said level creator. You need the existing meshes to begin with. More of a level placement tool :o) With mesh editing capabilities.

If your just loading in a level and placing object i find it pretty easy. Can anyone suggest a better alternative for doing everything, except from unwrapping, that outdoes Ultimate Unwrap? Bearing in mind it can import .x, .3ds, .obj, .lwo, .b3d and export them too, and gives you alot of control in exporting .b3d's. Plus the price

A genuine request, as i'll definetly check it out if it exists :o)

Are you using the new v3?

Yeah, it's got a lot of great features :o)

when I want to place stuff I do that in Gile[s] ... superior and as it will end in there anyway when it is a level ... ^^

Depends on what interface you have used and like the best :o) Gile[s] is a super blitz app though. I don't know if Gile[s] is able to import/export animated meshes, and the number of different formats ultimate unwrap can though.

I do like Gile[s] custom properties though. Great for adding scripting to entities.
