Dual View TV

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Dual View TV

It's only a one line blurb near the bottom of the article, but it sounds very interesting. It is now possible for a TV to show two different images to gamers - no more need for a split screen...

(if the gamers where what would normally be 3D glasses - but instead of doing 3D the glasses allow them to see totally seperate images on the same TV)

That is Un****ing-believable!

I hope it happens. Sure, you have to wear some glasses, but at my age, that's getting more and more common anyways....

These people keep inventing the things I think of! They're making money off of my hard work!

But seriously, that's brilliant. I wonder if they'll get it to the point where four or more players can see different images...

The 120 frames per second ones could, since the normal is 30 I believe.

First to see if it will catch on.

Something tells me the type of glasses needed for it would be hard on the eye, having something constantly opening/closing infront of your eye at high speed, unless I'm misinterpreting how it works exactly. Not a bad take on the whole thing though if they can get it to work with no drawbacks.

Anyone seen the OLEDs yet btw? Those are friggen' insane, if only Sony wasn't capitalizing on the TV. $2500 for a 11"? I'll pass until they're reasonably priced.
(and from what I've read they're cheaper to produce than LCD screens)

It's a good idea, but it won't be successfull, there's no way gamers are going to pay out for these things and actually wear them on their face everytime they want to play multiplayer, and other people in the room wouldn't be able to watch cause they'd just see two images at the same time.

It's probably a polarity thing.

One persons see the horizontal light, the other sees the vertical light. Just like the polarized 3D glasses.

No way they can do more than two using that technology.

i was looking at it more
alternating scan lines

player 1
scan odd
player 2
scan even

then swap over

but wouldnt it put a strain on the gfx card?
first having to draw two frames then split them like this
(2gfx cards?)

plus the glasses i do see as migraine fodder and perhaps epileptic triggers?

and the casual observer as said up there ^^^ would just see a flickering mess that probably would set off a migraine ;)

..You could modify the nvidia drivers and drive two pairs of 3D glasses to the same effect...?

Have one polarity set at + and the other set of glasses at -, and have the game alternate the camera each frame.
