Curved Monitor
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Curved Monitor I have been waiting for this for a while, of course, it won't be any good until it curves on the X and Y axis. IE widescreen? pah! give me a bigger view of all directions. gimme a large square screen.
You could just sit really close to the monitor.. 8op
But then my eyes would be like... ¤.¤
"hmmm.. I swear I put that file on the desktop!?"
*turns head to the right*
"oh, there it is!!"

Another case for RSI in the work place..
Apart from the fact that it's massive (depth wise), DLP so about as sharp as a crayon, and you'd need a supercomputer to make all the pixels work, I think it's a wonderful idea...
You would have thought they would have been able to use LCD and just flex the screen wouldn't you?

And that's why these'll never catch on for gaming!
Anyways, the descript says it mimics peripheral vision, so what does that mean exactly, that the screen's curve doesn't affect the actual pixel display on the monitor?
First thing that came to mind when I saw it was that it looked to be a gaming-only monitor; you won't see artists try to use photoshop on that thing. Regardless, cool to actually see something like this, let alone one with a response time of under a millisecond.

The biggest limitation for any non-gaming uses is probably the limited resolution: 2880 x 900 is *nothing* on a surface that big.

Of course response time != refresh rate.
2880x900 is only a 12.5% increase in the number of pixels on a 1920x1200 monitor. Shouldn't need that much power to drive it. SLI 8800GT's would do it.
Quite how much of an improvement it would give is questionable. I don't think it's going to appeal to very many people.

That's probably what was aid about 1024x768x32 a few years back when everyone was playing doom at 640x480x8.
Single 8800 GT would do it.

Won't give you that, but I'll give you hemispherical one, just as cool:

$20,594.95... sold out, unfortunately. Saw one of these at Siggraph years ago, it really was COOL. Flight simulators looked awesome on it!
