Popular Script Languages you can think of?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Popular Script Languages you can think of?

I'm writing an article about the scripts used in games/apps.

Lua
Ruby
Python
AngelScript
Erlang
Gentee
Squirrel
TCL/TK

What else worth introducing?

UnrealScript
SCUMM
Virtual Theatre

Also, Lua & Grim Fandango info.

Squirrel
Forth
Javascript

Might not be used is a lot of games, if at all, but still...

ActionScript?

My personal favourite, AWK :-)

Scheme

And I am not sure if Erlang should be in your list since its more of a complete language instead of a script. But the boundaries are fuzzy between these two.

btw nice quote from Larry Wall:
Suppose you went back to Ada Lovelace and asked her the difference between a script and a program.
She'd probably look at you funny, then say something like: Well, a script is what you give the actors,
but a program is what you give the audience.
That Ada was one sharp lady...

The editor request me to list and put comments on script languages that are:

1.General purpose
2.Embeddable in App/Games
3.Doesn't require big backbones like QT.

The first things I can think of is Lua, Pythob, and Ruby, but I may have to pick up to 10 items to fill the pages...

BriskVM2

PHP - one of the most popular script language for server side development (and now making roads into client side scripting).

Dont forget NewLisp [http://newlisp.org/]

When do we get to see this article?

mel scripting is used a lot in Maya (which in turn could be useful for getting stuff across to Blitz).

if you're going blitz specific, don't forget gamescript! (even though a major bug was just uncovered, with no solution yet ó_ò)
