Web Developers -save time and frustration from IE6

Those of you who develop web applications (especially with CSS and Javascript) will almost certainly have experienced the frustration caused by IE6 not following web standards and the lack of support of new technologies such as transparent PNGs and SVG. Fear not though, here is something that will save you time:

This isn't an answer to front end websites used by Joe Public, but for anyone developing web applications for businesses, etc. will benefit from using Prism to run the web application as a desktop application that is accessible from the Start menu or desktop. In addition, it's available for Mac and Linux too.

I do my sites for Firefox, check that they work 90% OK with IE7 and couldn't care less how or if it works with IE6. And I also occasionally have my brother to check up the sites with Mac and Safari.

Theory here is that MS is pushing hard the latest version of their bloatware to users anyway, so there aren't many active web users that use IE6 - even if they would want that. But I do only small sites, not super-duper corporates which have different compatibly needs of course.

I work as a web developer and when you are doing business websites, hou have to make sure that they work with IE6 as this is still the most common browser for people who are your average PC user.

The situation with web applications development is getting a bit silly because developers are being restricted on what they can implement in their applications due to the limitations of IE6 and the refusal of various clients to install a new browser to use their software. What Prism offers is a standards compliant solution to view web applications and to have the web application seem as though it is desktop software to bypass the resistance of installing a new browser.
