Memory Lane - Your first post and archive entry

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Memory Lane - Your first post and archive entry

The new year is almost here so maybe it's time to remember the old times eh?

My first post here was over 5 years ago asking about how to make shadows. Seem like it's was longer than that....yeah had to be more like 6 years.

My first archive entry was a VB split command over 5 years ago! 2002-01-11

Geez has it been THAT long?!

Here's to a fruitful, productive 2008 guys (and gals)!

EDIT: Yep! I have an worklog post from Posted 2001-12-15....

First post? I said this to halo/Leadwerks/Josh over four years ago in response to him trying to garner advance payments for a character model.
No offense, but certainly this fellow could have a better texture, because judging by the texture on that shot, it's really very poor. I do hope the UV mapping isn't as low quality. As for the mesh, it seems as if the eyes are coming out of their sockets. I'd say you're being overcharged a bit for this model. With a good texture I'd say the price is justified. But, now that I've said my opinion, I'll bugger off since I've no business with you. Hope the animations are good..
So what's changed? (He called me a naughty word in response, by the way.)

Also, I deleted my old worklogs. There's a gallery entry I have somewhere, but I don't feel like digging it up.

huh, seems my first post appears to be 4 years ago and posting some flood fill routine.

I'm sure that was not my first post though. Not sure what's happened there?

The post searching seems to not go back as far as my first post, because the oldest listed is the same thread as Noel's, the one about Halo and his model pot, which I'm pretty sure was not my first post.

My only code archive entry is some thingy about changing the system mouse sensitivity. ( Which in retrospect is a really bad idea :P ) I don't like making code archive entries because I'm a lazy programmer and a self-taught programmer, which means I have a lot of bad habits I don't want to teach others.

Do you remember the forum exodus, about 4 or 5 years ago? AFAIR post of the first 2 years or so were lost, Some very nivce stuff, but also some very nasty flamewars in the formerly completely uncensored, politically uncorrect forum with sections like "Off Topic" :)

If memory serves, my first post was about my first Blitz project, a level editor, the first editor that I used to write that allowed to "drop things", aka flytrough and load meshes to the current camera position.

This is a World Building System for Blitz 3D Programmers. This Software is used to create 3D-Enviroments.
You can import and texture a TRN-Terrain. (TRN-Creator Source included), load and adjust X/3DS in a Walktrough-Mode, save the whole Project in a new Folder, including Mediafiles and B3D-Sourcecode to load the World in your Game. Has some nice Features like a Realtime Light and Fog-Fader and more.

Revision Details (Current Rev: 0.2):
01.14.2002:Added Collision Detection System. 01.09.2002:Had still some not so relevant Bugs.
A Cyber Skunk Production

Looks like about since the end of 2004 for me.

Most of my early posts are in the BugBin... seems I was just a nuisance at the beginning.

Nothing much changes then ;-)

Heh heh, I made my first Blitz forum post three years ago but have been lurking since the beginning of Blitz on the PC (2000?). Perused the forums almost every day and toyed with the Blitz2D and Blitz3D demos before making a purchase in 2004.

Code archive entries? I've made several covering various topics and ported a few other people's Blitz3D entries to BlitzMax. Also made numerous postings of code in the BlitzMax forums. Wish I could contribute more.

Tried on numerous occasions to defect to competing products but they just don't compare to Blitz regarding ease-of-use vs power.

Most memorable thread? Here! Ah, what could have been! ;)

My first post was about scaling text used in gui controls in blitzplus when scaling a gui gadget - a query as to if is possible. Can't remember the answer and am not sure I need to know now either.

My first post was a year ago... I was sure it was longer than that, about using variable path names and the corruption VB6 can cause in the generation of pathnames that are read by B3D. Only worklog is regarding moving some 3d shapes to judge the perf of your system - not optimised at all.

Nice idea...

Hmm after trying out some words it spits out 2004-12-17 but with an internal error when i want to click on the thread "Beta versions for Win32 and Linux now available!" so it doesnt seem to be available anymore.

My first post was the "Make my game please" thread which went down well with members. That was back in 2001 or 2002.

Then came my Genocide thread which got me banned. :)

Before that I was a regular on BlitzCoder and bought my first blitz license (Blitz2D) from idigicon.

Ahh the memories. :)

I remember posting a game or two around 2002 on the idigicon showcase which was taken down as it was a little politically insensitive at the time (either that or it was just too low quality)

My first forum post was about 3 years ago, asking where to get info about undocumented keywords for Blitz3D, such as DrawMovie, Object, etc.

without searching it was probably qaop deflektor or linda farnham =))

My first posts go back longer that the forum has record of!

However, this way my first major achievement:

My first posts weren't particularly interesting. More interesting are some of the threads I've seen over the years that were subsequently deleted. But I guess if I went into specifics, this would follow them.

Sphere Racer was awesome! That was a large part of my decision back when I first got Blitz (switching from 3D Gamestudio, brrrr.) As I recall, I emailed you some dumbass question about how you setup levels in your game.

The list of posts when I check my profile only goes back 4 years, so the oldest post of mine is me answering someone's question and thus obviously not my first post. I don't recall what my first post was, I'm sure it was asking some questions. I am proud to say however that I had a first demo of Halloween Hijinks up and running within like a couple of weeks of starting with Blitz.

mine only goes back so far and wasn't my first post. I think my first post was asking how to do something simple in blitz but my very first project was Blitzpub which was a 3d rpg/irc chat room type thing not sure if anyone remembers it but you could drink, puke and fart.

My first posts are no longer archived, and I first got involved when Blitzbasic was still in beta. I remember the original website, the basement, blitzcoder and several incarnations of this site.

My code archive entries were not well received. I'm no mathematician, and making a community project out of the code I provided got nowhere, so it's just been sitting there, without anyone using it eversince.
