It's getting near Christmas so the usual films are on...

A Quick question... (nothing serious)

Ok, just sat here watching Die Hard 2 (UK).

There's a plane coming down to land, but there's no runway lights..

Our hero has a can of petrol and a source of ignition.

What pattern would be best to draw (in petrol) on the runway and then ignite to give the pilot sense of speed, altitude etc... to land safely...

Obviously the pattern of the runway as it would appear in daylight would be preferable, but you can't.

What pattern would you inscribe and why?

Answers on a bottle of Jack Daniels please...

I don't think that setting fire to the runway in front of a landing plane is a completely brilliant idea, either way, if you want it to "land safely".

What 2D pattern would best convey 3D perspective...

Been working ((work && whist_awake) > 15hrs) today on my latest project....

Reminds me of the 3D traffic signs painted on the road which they tested in parts of the UK. Great idea except they were so realistic drivers were slamming their brakes on to avoid hitting them.

cricket sponsors ads are ok if viewed from the correct angle
otherwise they become distorted trapeezoids ... so you have to be facing DEADON the flaming willis path if it was a shape meant to look like another shape

so i think he was better off using a straigt ish line and a burn out plaine at the end

I'd soak myself in petrol, and make a flaming snow angel :-)

I wouldn't write anything. I'd nick off with the petrol. T'is bloody expensive, y'know. :P

Why asking people if you can just look at an aircraft carriers landing position lights?

I'd drink the petrol, piss in the snow, and light that on fire!

Two lines down each side of the runway is better than one line in the middle as the pilot gets a judge of depth then, otherwise he has to use the horizon. A dotted double line is better still as it uses less petrol and you can make it quicker.
