Wanna help me use Blitz on a movie?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Wanna help me use Blitz on a movie?
Hey gang,
I'm the Visual Effect Supervisor on Open Season 2. I've been using Blitz Languages for about 6 years now and totoally love it. I've been dying to find an excuse to use Blitz on a project for work but so for it just doesn't really apply to computer animation work.
So far the only idea I've come up with is to use the ODE system to make a vehicle simulator that exports data to Maya. The other idea I had was a quick and dirty sprite animation system, but who knows.
There's no real use for a game because if there was a game they would probably have THQ do it. I'm sure it would be crappy.
If you guys have any idea. Maybe I'll sneak the Blitz logo onto a bumper sticker in the movie or something.
Best thing to make is some kind of inhouse tool for previs or planning
That's not bad.
Just get one of your TD's/tool guys to make a b3d exporter for maya.... :)
lol, yeah right. It's hard enough for me to actually get time with them. Although I do have one coming on to my staff in a while, but I'm having him make a ODE tool. I think I'd have to lie to him to get a b3d exporter. I would love to have that to.
Man I really want to help you out with a suggestion, but I too am at a loss for how Blitz could be applicable to making a movie.
I'm not familiar with Open Season 1, so forgive me if this is a completely arsey idea, but what about a game within a film? Capture video footage of a game being played ( doesn't have to be something new - one of your own or ask Paolo or MadJack or someone else who's written a cool game recently ) and render that onto a screen in the movie, and have one of the characters playing the game.
It's fairly low-effort because the game is already done and it's just a video clip to render onto a surface in the movie, so it shouldn't create much work for anyone.
That's a cool idea but somewhat impractical since I'm sure Craig can't make large changes to the script (eg. what the characters are doing in a given scene.) A smaller way to do that though would be to have a Blitz game playing on a screen in the background of some scene.
Right, I wasn't suggesting it would be a character who was "in " the scene. I just meant a character in the background playing a game, who was visible while characters in the foreground were talking.

I'd be up for that ;-)

Wasn't Blitz used in Ghost Rider? I'm certain I saw some screenies Of the city a year or so before release of the film.
Think about : Comparitive replacements.
If a found screen part is equal to a low quality part that you can replace with high quality film or sound then replace that part with your high quality part. ; filtering
In movie production works : See > Find, Copy, Replace, coding.
Scherm Ruis (Black and white noise) can be transformed to movies and music using math. Puzzle parts.
Fixing up low quality movies ; Colors and movement.

The digital industry is really interested in finding ways to create high quality digital content.
Render movies on screen and analyze and replace with parts.
