rolling ball game

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/rolling ball game

Any Blitzers made one of those labyrinth games where you tilt the table (or something similar) and make the little ball roll around/up/down obstacles and finally into a hole? The further you get the ball, the higher the score.

I have the urge to play one of those games.

This one...

I hate you! FOREVER! You with your stupid holes and pathways laid so that when I tilt it the ball goes in the wrong directions, defying all forms of physics.

An answer? Yes, I know about them. And yes Ive made one in a carpenter woodshop once. It was one pathway, I could actually beat it.
*claps for self*

I believe I have that exact one. It's too hard!

I have that one :-)

I'm sure there are a bunch of shops near me that sell those, although I haven't played one in years. Would a PC version of the same thing be responsive enough, user interface would need to be good I'd think, can a PC do the fine movement well enough...

I have that game on my iPod Touch, and its fun to play.
You have to tilt the iPod to play it.

You have to tilt the iPod to play it.

?!

Would a PC version of the same thing be responsive enough

I think so. Wouldn't hurt to try. Using a good physics lib, tilt the table with the mouse, control the camera with keys...or vice versa. Would be a small playing area, low poly enough for tons of snazzy effects like real-time shadows, motion blur, etc.

I'll create the maps in 3dws or max 8 if someone wants to code it. I'll also do the music, sfx and 2D work.

Email me if you're in. I'm weary of coding and would love to knock out some art.

Would be nice to play with the PS3 sixaxis or the Wiimote...

Cygnus:

Hold the iPod with screen up and lower or rise the edges to get the ball rolling.

recently i had the urge to add this type of game to my (never) 'to do' list
cant remember why

i was probably drunk

Not long before one appears on the Nokia N95. Its accelerometers are easily accurate enough.
