WinXP 32-bit /64-bit

Hi all,

1. If a software was designed to run on win xp 32-bit version, could it be run on 64-bit version successfully ?

2. If a due core pc (64-bit) with vista is going to downgrade to XP. Should it choose XP 32-bit ver. or 64-bit version? Are there any difference these two versions?

Well, entirely hearsay, but a good friend of mine (and IT professional - meaning one would imagine he has *some* kind of clue) keeps reinstalling XP 64 every few months in the hope that his compatibility issues have magically vanished. He tried again yesterday - and is back in 32 bit land again today...
