In need of rendering software

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/In need of rendering software

Hi there, I need a good rendering software that is:

- easy to use, I just want to place my obj or wrl files in there and push render
- has options for cel shaded rendering
- is free or at least affordable

Any suggestions?

blender is free isn't it? give it a try.

I can't stand Blenders UI. Gave it 3 tries already... :(

Try, try again.

1. Start Blender
2. File-->Import--> Select your model type, then the model and import it.
3. Hit the BIG button that says "Render" or F12

There is no render software easier or cheaper than that.

For CEL shaded options.

1. Right click the object you want to shade.
2. Select the Material Panel F5
3. Select the "Shaders" tab
4. Set the Diffuse and Specular shaders to "Toon"
5. Hit F10 to go to render panels
6. Select the "Edge" option if you want cartoon outlines.
7. Hit the BIG button that says Render

Now all you need to learn is how to move your camera to get a decent view and add some new lighting for which there are numerous video tutorials which can show you that in a couple of minutes.

HTH

Watch the first video on the website under tutoials. It explains the UI and afterwards all become clear.

I hated it too when i tried to use my "generic knowlage" to try and learn it by trial and error. However, once i watched that video it was sooo easy (just.. different) I now PREFER its interface to all of them, max, truespace, hexagon, ac3d. I also think the blender controls are very efficient (esp. modelling and animation) compared to many others.

Watch the video and you will wonder why you found it so hard.

Thank you all. Especially ardee because his short tutorial got me started. Many thanks!!!!

@stayne: THANK YOU! That's exactly the application I needed. Easy to use, a lot of features, high quality output and it's free as well O.o

Wohooo!
