Turn your crummy old system into an Alienware
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Turn your crummy old system into an Alienware Do you mind telling us what this will do before we run it?
Will it scan my system and send you any textures and 3D models it finds?

From what I've gathered, it just changes the look of the GUI for Windows.
yuck
Looks nice on the box, nice in the shop, nice to brag about on a party.. art-wise it may look all nice, but I wouldn't want to have to look at this and work with it daily..

Am I alone in having no desktop background, windows classic look (with 'Desert' colour scheme)?
I spent 2 days levering XP on to this laptop and another night (last night) persuading Vista (dual-boot) to talk to my HD via AHCI (rather than BSOD'ing).
Tomorrow I put Ubuntu on and try to figure out how to remove Vista's boot-loader and use GRUB for everything instead. No least because Vista's boot loader only just abuot works on this laptop, after displaying a load of gobbledegook before coming up with the proper menu.
I never envisaged these issues moving from the desktop to portable.
Ho hum.

I run XP in windows classic mode with no background.
I like them
I use classic mode in XP, theres nothing worse than the green and blue 'fisher price' mode with its chunky bars and massive UI. I do have a background though.
I like the Zune theme from M$ but without the stupid background.
I use the Classic Windows theme. The only thing I customize these days is my wallpaper. Right now, it's an awesome 10,000 Days picture.
