I just got this monitor (early Christmas present). I LOVE it. I upgraded from a 19 inch CRT and I could never go back. If you're looking for a super nice wide screen then this is the baby to get. The 20 and 19 inch versions are great too I imagine. Btw, I LOVE IT.

That's a nice monitor, but you can't beat the Dell 24" LCD's ;)

I guarantee you at 22 inches I don't miss 2 more inches hehe. And I got mine for $300 bones. Not sure what you paid for yours. Looks like we're both happy heheheheeheh.

I've got a 22" widescreen LCD, and you can have it from my cold dead hands.

I have the Dell 24 also , which is amazing. But 22" is definitely the best bang for the buck right now.

To be fair, I have been pondering whether or not my monitor is actually a little too big. I sat and thought about an upgrade to Dell's 27" monitor, but I realised that I'd have to sit further away from it to be comfortable.

If Dell did a 22" monitor, with a 1920x1200 panel using the same driving electronics as the 2407, I'd buy two of them.

Ive been testing my projects multiplayer split screen mode at my friends but he runs his pc though his 32 TFT tv so im stuck to using 1366x768. ive got a standard 19in tft so cant test widescreen at home. its a pain so i may upgrade too, im very happy with my viewsonic so would buy one again.

Widescreen displays are rapidly becoming the norm. Laptops are not the last bastion of 4:3 (and 5:4) aspect displays, but even those are slowly changing.

Games should include a letterboxed widescreen for 4:3 displays.

Vinylpusher: Depends on where you look -- Dell's corporate laptops are pretty much exclusively widescreen these days, except for a single model.

Just because there aren't many 4:3 monitors on sale, doesn't mean that overnight widescreen monitors became more widespread. Eventually they'll account for the majority, but I very much doubt they do right now. With 5:4 monitors still very common, you could even argue that making a game 4:3 and adapting both 5:4 and 16:9/10 with borders is finding the middle ground.

Anyone have the Samsung 226bw monitor and if so how do you like it?

I want a big 24" 4:3 or 5:4 .. but they don't seem to exist. :S

Remarkable how monitors are being made for movies, while years ago they were made for generic applications which may be scalable vertically.
