Which is better 8800GT or 8800GTS

Which is the better one (GT/GTS)

Im thinking of getting a

Asus Extreme GeForce 8800GT 512MB DDR3 TV-out HDTV DUAL DVI RETAIL PCI Express

Anyone got one?, Is it worth it? are you liking it? moans and groans? :)

I have the 8800GTS, but the reviews are all saying the GT out-performs it. The GTS is a great card all-round and the GT has the advantage of being half as thick. Go for the GT.

8800GTS has 96 stream processors and a G8X series chip (video processor 1)

The 8800GT has 112 stream processors and a G9X series chip (video processor 2, even lower cpu usage for HD video playback with H.264)

I would say get a AMD HD3850 with 512MB instead. Although it's slower it offers better video support, less power consumption, DX10.1 support and is cheaper.

GT is a lot better, performance is just 3% less than the full GTX and it's a lot less cash. I have the 8800GT and everything looks very nice with it, IMHO if you want to play Gears of War or Crysis this is the card to go for.

It really depends on what you mean by "better" doesn't it? The GT is a better value for money. The GTX has the better performance.

Depends on which GTS version you are talking about :S
There are 3 generations of the 8800GTS:
The first one is the aforementionned G80 with 96SP which is definately slower, available in both 320MB and 640MB.
The second one is the G80 with 112SP which is only available in 640MB and practically the same as the GT except that it performs better on higher resolutions.
Tbe third one is the G92 with 128SP, which will be available in both 512MB and 1GB. This one is supposed to come out mid december. You can pretty much guess that this one will be a lot better than the GT, but for around twice the price.
They all are 8800GTS and the only way to tell them apart is to look at the spec. The new gen will be easier to spot because of the memory sizes.

Mustang I think that the chart is a bit misleading, anyone buying a HD 2600 XT and expecting it to perform on a comparable level to an 8800GT is going to be very dissapointed.

The GT is better than the old GTS, but the new GTS will be better than the GT.

Chart is 100% right - title is "Best Bang for the Buck"... it's not "Best cards in universe, in this order"

33 3DMarks per $ > 8800GT
30 3DMarks per $ > 8800GTS
20 3DMarks per $ > 8800GTX

GT is best when you compare performance AND price > better value for money.
