Game Company Name?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Game Company Name?
How did you come up with your games company name? I'm thinking Grey Alien Games, Rock Solid Games, and Zama games as examples...
I'm having a hard time coming up with something I like to stick on my games. Everything I think of is either taken or sounds cheesy.
Have you finished anything? If not, I wouldn't concern yourself with naming a company that doesn't exist.
Register a domain name you like, and name your studio like that, that take about $10.
You may need to register a real company/studio if you're really start earning later, contact the local law department(it's not required in Japan tho).
Have you finished anything?
Actually, yes I have *gasp* I finished a handful of games a few years ago, not that they were any good, but they were at least finished. I had a couple of freeware games put out on magazines in the UK. PC Utilities I think it was...
Anyway, I'm nearly finished with a new, small project that I've been working on, on and off, for a while now. Should be finished by Christmas if all goes well. I'm planning to publish it myself on my own website if I can work out how to do it :p
I'm working on another, much larger project too. Haven't got much hope of finishing it anytime time soon tho...
Go outside (preferably to busy street corner somewhere) and start kicking and swinging at the wind. In between frothy snarls you'll blurt out some of the best darn-tootin' company names a mad-but-harmless person has ever heard. Ask passers-by to commit to memory the best ones for you. They can then recall them for you if they ever see you again.
Need more sage advice? Meet me in your cellar. No lights.
Hujiklo is starting to worry me.
I'm just glad I don't have a cellar.
Nothing that exciting really, my names Dan and i do "graphics stuff", hence D-Grafix
there you go 'darn-tootin games'
Register a domain name you like, and name your studio like that, that take about $10.
Good luck with that -- finding a good .com that's available is just as hard. Pretty much any one-word name you can think of is taken.
It's easier with two-part names, but for those its harder to come up with something that doesn't sound too cheesy...
I like the sound of "Frothy Snarl" as a game company name.
My user name was Grey Alien (I have a thing about aliens) and eventually I needed to make a games company and get a URL and so Grey Alien Games was born!
I like PicoPix :)
I like Breasts.
I like myself!
boomboom; that made be laugh out loud... "Darn-tootin' Games"!! hehe
I like you too Lars... Can we spend the summer in a caravan together?
And I thought "EveningWare" was a good name for a company name... not sure where it came up now, it wasn't actually my idea... But though it was apt for 'bedroom coders'
Sure.. you bring the booze!
GachaGacha Games
(I have a thing about aliens)'
Have you been abducted too??? I have but experience and the story is so wierd that I can not share it on boards.
Call it JA2 Games and you're done.
If you can't get a dot com get a dot net or some other ending, I don't think it matters very much what extension you have if you're just an indie.
Meglomaniac games :)
Although EdzUp came from my name with a little 'adjustment' :)
Have you been abducted too???
No I haven't but I'm very interested to hear your experience! Feel free to email any time and I'll keep the info private of course.
Of course :D hahahaha
Pick the name based on the kind of entertainment you want to make. My Game Company name is Questionable Entertainment.
Just registered "pixelstir.com"
Can't believe that one was still available!
munga bunga games
i love to type in random statements as .com's to see what comes up ... ever since someone said on blitz irc years ago ****ingmachines com [that one was a bit of an eye opener :)) ]
I usually like to have the name and the mission statement be one and the same or have a company name that represents the people behind it a little.
