My Oz game is retailing on Amazon + more

Basically e-games gave us a flat payment and are now selling it on Amazon and in Wallmart and other stores in the U.S. and Canada. The Amazon page is a bit crap though because there are no screenshots, it really doesn't say much. Anyway, that's their problem not mine :-)

On the plus side it's great that you've got something out there and hopefully next time you produce something you can ask a lot more for it. I suppose it's a bit of a shame you don't get a royalty or % but still it must be very satisfying.

Who contracted you to make it? Was there a copyright issue?

That Amazon page says it is also being sold in Target stores. Target is a HUGE chain here in the US. So, that is kinda cool.

This is not my new game, this is something that was released on all the portals last November 2006. I've been receiving royalties from it all year and e-games paid us a big chunk (thousands of dollars) to have the rights to sell it retail. They are only selling it at $9.99 even though on-line it's $19.99. I guess that is the price point for non-mainstream retail games.

I was contracted to make it by Injoy games last year. No copyright as the book was first printed just over 100 years ago :-) That was the producer's bright idea you see...

Worth mentioning on the Copyright issue for anyone planning to use storybook characters in their games - you have to ensure that you're basing your game on the original work, not a more recent interpretation. For example, if the Wizard of Oz game had likenesses of characters from the 1939 movie version, Grey Alien would probably be burning in hell by now.

Same goes for music. Fancy using Edward Elgar's 'Nimrod' (1899), for example? You can't download a modern recording and use that, because Copyright belongs to the performer of that arrangement.

The best thing, IMO, is the 'Better Together' deal where you buy GA's game along with a Judy Garland Oscar winning classic film.

Yep correct. That's why we made SILVER slippers in the game not RED ones as per the movie.

You might get a little interest in your game from people in the US this week. Sci-Fi channel is showing a made for TV movie called "Tinman". It's loosely based on Wizard of Oz. Hope your sales increase. :)

It's nothing to do with me anymore. Yeah it's a boxed version.

It is an address in the US you can use to send something to somebody in the Military that is overseas. It gets sent to a mail hub in the US and the military takes over delivery from there. This way, people mailing something to a loved one overseas in the military do not have to deal with international mailing and all that entails (price, packaging, shipping methods, etc).
