Not a clue what that was about. I keep getting a guy called "Warren" call me at work from Microsoft, he doesn't really sound like a Warren though.

Apparently, it's common practice in Asian call centres for the staff to 'adopt' a more western sounding name. It's quite amusing when you get a call from a guy with a broad Indian accent say "Hello, my name is Brian Jones" - yeah, right! :PThe fact that they're lying to you from the start doesn't exactly fill you with confidence about anything else they tell you, though. :/
Anyway, gotta go - I've got an urgent emu I have to send to someone...

I lot of immigrants to the US americanize their names so they fit into their new environment better. Quite surprised me when I first moved here and I'm still not sure what I think of that really.
It certainly makes a difference compared to the UK where it seems that often they don't want to be segregated and petition to get the laws changed to what they had back in their home countries. Very strange.
My wifes parents changed their family name when they moved to the US from Russia in the 70's. But they all have russian first names, except for her younger sister who was born here. They are all really proud of having come to the US and love this country.
