ATI 9800 Pro Drivers

Could some kind person point me in the direction of a reliable driver version for the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.

I've just had a new motherboard fitted and had to re-install windows xp 32 bit...for some reason all the Blitz stuff I've written now runs REAL slow.
I've tried the latest Catalyst 7.2 with no joy.

You can find reliable drivers here.

Try uninstalling the driver and re-installing it (and make sure you have the latest DirectX installed for Windows XP.

Also if your brave play with the BIOS settings.

Yep always do for a nvidia.

Did you install any relevent motherboard drivers (ie 4-in-1)?

Also: Check your BIOS settings and make sure that your AGP bus is set to 8x -- If not, then your card may not be running at full speed.

Tried uninstalling and re installing..still no joy with the Catalyst 7.2 drivers, I'm running the latest dx version.

As long as you try to install catalyst 7.2 you are definitely on stone age drivers ...

They seem to have a lot of ATI drivers too. I have always found Nvidia to have much better driver support and tend to stay away from ATI as much as posssible. Good luck with the drivers.

Oh, I also recommend running driver sweeper in safe mode, and then installing your drivers.

If you use an old driver your performance will shoot up. anything from this year forward has performance issues with animated meshs.

Thanks Pete, this does seem to be the problem.
I'm on the verge of purchasing a new system so maybe it's time to change to an Nvidia card, which isn't really what I wanted to do.
It's not that I don't want an NVidia card, just that I've been very happy with the ATI 9800 pro so far.
However I suppose 'Needs be, needs must', if the only way to resolve this issue is to go for an Nvidia card thats what I must do.
