Anyone tried this?

http://www.coolbasic.com/home/index.php

Jason.

CoolBasic is currently at the Beta stage. This means that the product is not ready, and the English version is currently not fully supported. There's a simple reason for that: We want to focus on the development process 100% and not to waste our resources for the minority.
English is a minority language, now? :P

Thats the language that wraps blitz3D isn't it.

Is it? O_O

I thought that was by some Russian guy?

Some of the command names look mighty similar, though...

CollBasic wraps over Blitz3D, but the backbone is going to be changed to some other DX9 engine, dunno what they choosed, and it seems halted currently.

PlayBasic is however a successful wrap over BlitzPlus, and it's even do tons of things BlitzPlus can't do(RotoZoom,AlphaBlend etc).

However PlayBasic has it's own VM and command set which is more advanced than BlitzPlus so it's worth a try.

... hasn't Playbasic moved off BlitzPlus now as well? I am sure 1.70 is DX7.

Well, yes, compared to the population speaking Spanish, Chinese or Indian dialects as mother tongue, it probably is... After all, English is "only" the #1 business language, and most speak it only as second or third language. So, naturally, it is a minority language. ;-)

More people don't speak indian dialects than english. And whether more people speak Spanish is questionable, too. ;)

English is the "common standard" if you want to exchange info with others in overseas if you don't speak their native language.

At least in Asia, most school teaches English although many ppl may never use it in their life tho.

As to PlayBasic, kevid changed the render core to Blitz3D with a number of hardware accleration, however I like PB 1.63 more.

where i work english is the minority language ;)

I think the official international language is still 'French', but a lot of organisations (such as air traffic control) use English world wide. Much to the French's annoyance I am led to believe.

English is a minority language, now?

Only as a native language. Its by far the most widely spoken (just looked it up). If you want the widest audience and can only have language version then use english.

Because English is so widely spoken, it has often been referred to as a "global language", the lingua franca of the modern era.[2] While English is not an official language in most countries, it is currently the language most often taught as a second language around the world.

C'mon, it cant be considered a minority language, even if you only count people who speak it natively:

I feel this thread has gone off topic, somewhat. :P

"Anyone tried this?"
QuickSilva you should be ashamed of your self for moveing away from the light and warmth for Blitz Research products.
Thats like asking god ( or what ever you want to call him/her ) if he's tried Satanism ( says he who also plays with DB Pro, FreeBasic and C++ stuff now and again ).

Can all those people who speak English sue the author's for discrimination?

english is a minority if you consider the amount of english speaking people devided by the amount of products in that sector basing on english (or not basing on his own native language)

The market is flooded with bad documented english 3d engine trash ... so no reason to do another one whichs primary language if english if there are little to no engines with primary language in french, spanish, italian or german for example. (only PureBasic, GLBasic and DBP have true german versions of the "RAD game languages" I know)

I actually love Blitz but there`s nothing wrong with checking out the competition every once in a while.

Rival products are a good thing after all, they keep you on your toes :)

Jason.

yep, but in the case of CoolBASIC, it's still Blitz3D with a VM.

..im wondering, how many clones of Blitz3D is out there?? I mean...why everyone trying to clone it in sense that they just re pack Blitz3D and then calling product different while they keep same structure, naming conventions and still aged DX7?? I just cant get it..if it is DX9/10 with nicely applied B3D syntax and additional new stuff for corresponding API, that would be nice..but this clones really pissing me off..

I remember when this 'hit the fan' a few years ago. Seems it hasn't got anywhere since then.

If I were him, I would wrap up all the added functions hes put onto Blitz3D into a seperate dll and sell it to us.

Probaly make more money like that.

As he does not get anything for it atm, definitely more money than yet ;-)

I'd rather bind/wrap another library and sell it.... however I can't bother doing that in my personal taste.

For example, Graham wrapped Graphics32 for Cobra(Pure2D) and GLScene for Cobra3D, and he simply wrap the Audiere for his sound engine. Anyway that sells,so you can also do it if you bind a script/programming language with a few libraris you can get for free.

CoolBasic doesn't make a success bacause it has no much advanced improvements like PlayBasic does and it can't even use existing userlibs.

CoolBasic is moving to another backbone because the DX7 nature of Blitz3D, which make it looks left behind.

Yep, Playbasic is good and has a few nice features. I just find it difficult to get into and the author isn't the most accomodating host when you post on the forum. Might be why there is so little traffic.
Oh well... roll on PBFX.
I really want Cobra, PlayBasic, DarkBasic Pro, Nuclear Basic etc to improve in the hope it will spur some life into BRL.
I am getting tempted by DBPro again for 2D (2D Plugin Kit, Enhanced EAX etc). Anybody used DBPro for 2D?

Wow, I did'nt know about this software !

PlayBasic looks amazing for 2D or pseudo 3D lovers !!!

I am tring it and I think I will love it (grat price too) !!

:))))

Never used DBP for 2D
Back when I used it actively, it hardware requirements were by far too high to make it a viable language for 2D.
