Has anyone seen this?
It's a new gaming setup by AMD/ATI called Spider.

The question is now; how much will it cost? :p

If you have to ask, you can't afford it ;)

Looks like 20.000kr++ at least.

So is this just a high spec PC compatible, or a competing system?

This looks like so muich hot air and hype and no substance.

I don't have much faith in ATI really, will be interesting to see if they can catch up with Nvidia on the mobo chipset front, and wish they had proper GL drivers. They do pretty well in direct 3D and I always liked AMD over Intel for processors. Even if AMD didn't do so well with their most recent CPU's.

Looks just like a PC to me. Maybe the biggest difference is that it can use all those graphics cards for more than just graphics, but calling it a supercomputer is probably stretching it a bit. Also for a rig that seems to have 4 state of the art CrossFire Radeons, I really expected a lot more from the graphics.

Sounds like just a overtuned pc. So what?

AFAIK, it's a 'platform' (ie standard), much like Intel's 'centrino'.

It's just a marketing tool to make buying a 'kick arse gaming rig' easier for the proles.

Here's a look at AMD's system tuning app.

Again, nothing really innovative but the integration is nice.

"overtuned pc..."

well 80 times the power of a ps3 is quoted, yep that's overtuned alright!
