Excellent use of Story in FPS

I've been playing Call of Duty 4 this weekend. Just wanted to say that they've got it just right with the mix of storyline and gameplay. You really feel like you're there, along side these other soldiers, who you actually start to care about. There's an excellent "and quite emotional" scene involving radiation after an atomic bomb with I thought was excellent.
Also, the level where you are using thermal imaging cameras on the village form the helicopter looks uncannily real to me, felt a little uncomfortable as it looked so real.
It's a gorgeous game, and while the gameplay isn't radically different from any other COD game, it's still good fun. It could definitely have done with being about twice as long though. For those of us who aren't interested in multiplayer, the single player campaign is very, very short.
I couldn't get into the demo for COD 4. I wanted to like it since I spent the whole night downloading it. Prefered the other WWII variants. Modern warfare typicaly isn't very interesting.
I loved the other ones so I'll probably end up with this. What happened to COD3? I had COD1 and 2 and some mission packs.
Call of Duty 3 was done by a different company. If I recall correctly, Infinity Ward considers this to be the real Call of Duty 3.
yes, dont' fret over call of duty 3, it wasn't much better than number 2, and it had quicktime action events in it, and they're the sporn of satan as we all well know.
