Hitman goes Movie??

I really hope the movie won't ruin the game, actually Hitman was one of my top favorites,

There's already enough movie that ruins the original game(Bio Hazard/Doom/Tomb Raider), will this be the next victim?

If I recall correctly, the writer behind the Silent Hill movie is doing it. If you never saw that, then you should probably know that it was the best game-based movie so far. Not saying much, but it was actually a good movie. I'm hoping Hitman will turn out the same.

Hey I enjoyed the Tomb Raider movies!

The thing with computer games is that the stories are usually so cliche ridden that when you do a movie of them they seem silly, that's because as computer games the story is silly, but kinda works in the genre of computer games.

Anyway, that reminds me, I bought hitman 2 years ago and still not installed it!

I think when they make a movie from a video game they just let the game do the marketing for them, and make a minimal effort to make a movie. Usually they take a generic script and toss in a few parts from the game. Doom was the one that could have been good, and it was terrible.

Worst game-based movie has got to be Blood Rayne ( or Doom ). The best has got to be the Chronicles of Riddick movie tie-in(s).

That's actually a movie-based game, not a game-based movie. Movie came first.

Yeah, Pitch Black wasn't even a 'Chronicle Of Riddick' until they realised they had a franchise on their hands and rebranded it.


I saw the scriptwriter defending himself in a forum (I think, although it could have been a blog/column -- was a while back) and he said it was originally much closer to the game thematically but that the studio kept demanding changes and rewrites until it wasn't Doom any more. I read around Hollywood a fair bit and this sounds very familiar.

They didn't know Vin Diesel was gonna get popular. They made it into a series after he got popular.

Now how could Vin Diesel possibly ruin a movie?

You mean like there's this doomsday device that requires all four parts to function. I want to destroy it. I already have one part, but destroying that part at this time in the movie (12 minutes in) would ruin the plot, so I need to trek around the world looking for the other parts first. Oh, is that a shower I see over there?
