Ipod Touch

I'm thinking of buying an Ipod Touch.

Anyone know if I can put my own CD's on it.

Or am I supposed to buy music from IStore.

I think if you're a label whore you should go for it. Otherwise it's utterly pointless.

And although I don't know for sure, I would assume it uses the unbelievably woeful iTunes like all the other ipods, so yes you can put your own CDs on it.

Do you install iTunes on your computer and with it copy your own CD to the Ipod Touch.

No it will rip the CDs, generate mp4 out of it and put those on the ipod

I really like the design on it. Nice user interface etc (had a go on one today). But I won't touch Apple (or Sony) for anything but work related matters. They are just too controlling of their technology.

Yes, you can put your own CD's on it. You can also upload MP3's that you rip yourself, or *ahem* download off the net (legal ones of course ;) ).

Yep - I've got the 16GB iPod Touch and you can rip your CDs onto it. You need to use the iTunes software to copy them onto the iPod, but you don't have to get your music from the iTunes Store.

I just read something about jailbreak on Ipod Touch.

Yup, I've got my Touch Jailbroken. it's ace :)

All the iPhone apps run, including maps/emails etc. but that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are already loads of useful homebrew apps for it including a mobile finder for full access to the filesystem, PDF viewers (store all your tech docs on your touch), chat apps, RSS readers, all manner of other stuff.

It's a stunning bit of kit, I'm currently typing this on my touch.
It's worth it for the browser alone.
Jailbreak it and it instantly became my single favourite piece of tech in years.

How well does the PDF Viewer work?

How about browsing the web? Does it do flash? Can it watch a video? Nimated gif's work?

I hope it is easy to use with my new mittens.

Web surfing is ace, no flash yet though.
PDF viewer is pretty good, I've got a few tech docs stored on here for quick ref on the go. Needs to support the accelerometer to be perfect though which will probably come
soon.
