Blitz3D and Vista .......

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Blitz3D and Vista .......

Just got a new PC loaded w/ Vista . Its a HP w/, AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 6000+ 3.0GHz processor , 3gb Ram , Nvidia Gforce 6150 SE w/ turboCache w/ 128mb .

Just for the record , Blitz3D is running out of this world , The WOW factor is of the charts .
I spent about 2 years creating an Editor and a game engine w/ Blitz3D , just never created the game ( go figure ) got a little burned out I guess . Both worked fine on my old PC (HP 1.2GHz w/Windows ME and a 64mb Graphics Card )

Now with the Vista Im in the mood to finish this project.....The Adventure of Stickman !

Well Just Basicly wanted to say Blitz and Vista are getting along fine here .

Stickman

Good stuff man! Look forward to seeing it :D

Explain.

How does Vista make Blitz3D better? I am thinking about Vista in my move to DX10.

How does Vista make Blitz3D better?

Probably has something to do with his new PC beating the utter crap spec-wise out of his older rig.
(sorry you had to deal with Win ME, that OS is one hell of a piece of garbage, was hell fixing my friend's PC since it just liked to crash spontaneously for no reason)

Oh.

I thought he was mental.

Genexi2: That is what most dream of especially Microsoft. Fact is that most systems, while vista premium ready, are not game ready, as they use Intel or NVIDIA onboard which are nice but have bandwidths that clearly degrade them to better office and DVD decoder chips.

And WinME isn't an OS. Its an active proof of a path to suicide. I kicked it from my system years ago after I had to reinstall it 14 times in 8 days ... Never looked back due to Win2k SP3 ;-)

And WinME isn't an OS.
Sure it is. It's the OS Satan forces sinners to use in Hell.

Trust me, its your new pc hardware, not vista.
I too have a new pc that now tripple boots Linux/XP/Vista.
Out of the 2 windows versions, I get MUCH better app performance and a lot more free resources when using XP (and thats saying a lot as i dont like XP performance wise either).

Its definatly the New PC , this thing is fast . I only posted this so anyone doing a search thats looking into Blitz and woundering how it might perform with Vista that Vista and Blitz are working well together .

Coming from Win ME ( after 7yrs ) Vista is a pleasure.

Vista is just very memory intensive , its uses 1GB RAM just for itself and if thats all the RAM you have your in trouble .

Of course that doesn't say much -- compared to WinME getting a rootcanal without anesthetics is a pleasure.

Stickman,

The dual core will definately help a lot. I have just completed a huge game project where moving to dual core gave me a huge performance improvement.
