Own a PS3? Don't let it get dusty

Apparently dust voids the PS3's warranty. Given that it runs all the time if you use some features (apparently folding), it will of course be a gigantic dust magnet. Consider turning it off or suffer the wrath of the dust god!

Just yet another one of those situations where you need to be loud and public with your complaining until someone higher up spots it and sorts it. It's not like Sony is the only company with unpleasant people working in support. You should hear the crap I had to deal with over my X360 which was broken right out of the box, but if you complain loudly enough and to enough different people, it gets sorted.

Are Sony trying to bankrupt themselves through bad publicity?

Well, Steve, they have no feet left to shoot (they're bloody stumps now), so I guess that's next on the list.

I agree with Gab. You need to complain about things loudy before you get ANYTHING done. I bet Sony would love nothing better than to turn people away from getting a free replacement. Complain enough and you'll get one! Same with alot of companies...

Or plain stupidity. I think it comes as part of the do-no-evil megalomaniac complex these large corporation have gotten, due in large parts to their initial success, and lack of experience in competitive markets.

Actually it's 100%. The only reason not everyone gets it (yet) is because they haven't bothered keeping it switched on long enough. You'll notice how the reported RROD incidents skyrocket around the time new good games are released.

Sony is a company that seems to not know where it should be. They have their good products (Vaio, Walkman, etc.) and their bad (flashdrives, PS3, etc.)

ps1 was great, fast hardware, great controllers, killer game (wipeout) etc.... blew us all away.

I never went for ps2 or 3 though.

Aw c'mon, PS2 was good! It just came out a little late. (XBox & GC were right on its tail.) But yeah, PS1 was great in its day.

I was playing amiga games when the PS1 came out and was blown away by the graphics of wipeout and destruction derby. I never really got into consoles though. First console I got was a DC at the end of its life, because I liked a couple of racers and virtua tennis.

Interestingly, Sony is getting out of the Cell processor end of the business.

Curiously, I have had the same X360 for a year without a single problem and it is on 3-4 hours a day. Maybe I am lucky or maybe I just treat the thing like the High Tech marvel that it is and leave it one place, properly ventilated. It doesn't get carted around the neighborhood in a backpack or lugged room to room or left in a small, poorly ventilated entertainment center. Who knows, who cares. I love the thing. I

Just finished COD4, and while linear and short, it was a very powerfully told and really gut wrenching FPS cinematic experience.

I'd like to see MS do what Sony did with the PS2. Make it smaller, less expensive, change up form factor etc ...

I have the small, silver PS2 and it is a very cool piece of HW. My kids and I played through Sly Cooper a few months ago and it was a blast. Sly Cooper really deserved a lot more attention than it received it was awesome. The 360 could use some of creative genius that games like that bring to the table.
